All other races should also have a way to get custom units in game, its fun to have your own cool unique unit which you trained yourself! And in multiplayer you can show of your unique units! (there should also be a game option which disables the use of custom units, for more equality)
There should be a lot more summonable creature’s
Upgrades should be customizable, hey maybe even in game.
The Creep idea out of war 3 should also be in starcraft2, its cool
Resources should be more variable (i.e. different kind of minerals and gas which have different properties, for instance invisible ore which creates invisible units) the most powerful units should be composed of several kinds of rare ore, each multiplayer level should at least have one patch of each kind of resources, campaign levels should have patches of them if needed (the first level might not have the need to create invisible units yet, so no invisible ore is needed).
Infested idea is good here’s a variation on the idea of more micro command options
Terrans should have an expensive commander unit a unit which has good hp and attack which can do basic things at your base for you (i.e. defend, and then your buildings will automatically recreate units when units in the defense line were killed and the building of turrets and such or attack support your buildings will create additional forces (constantly, until you give another command to your commander) and send them to the front line). This helps Terrans out so they can focus on micro management.
In the campaigns you should have computer alley (who are not as useless as in war 3) and third parties, which will also attack your opponent (but not helping you) or attack you (not helping the other computer) or neutral ones which you can gain alliance with by doing a quest or another service, this should off course affect the story line.
Quest system from war 3 is nice another idea that should be adopted
The in game movies should be an combination of the starcraft briefings (they were so cool) and the in game movies of war 3.
The scaling of units and buildings should be more logical buildings need to be huge in comparison with units and the mayor battleship of the Terran and Protoss should be very huge and cost a lot of money and made on a big land site (no factory is big enough) several workers should be working on them, they should own once finished!
How about an Zerg beacon like in the story but it would attract totally hostile zerg which will attack every player (even Zerg) (also multiplayer)
The engine should be able to support different layers of the map like planetary orbit ground and underground so you’ll have 3 battle fields!
