Now before anyone says anything, a Russian over at mp.net did come up with the rocket propelled chainsaw, made a little comic about it.

too bad russia would have to take out a loan to produce even one of the weapons you posted. That is assuming they get a factory to produce them sometime in this coming century.
lol win.

Uh huh..except for the fact that aside from AK-108 all the weapons I posted are already being mass produced and are in active service in different branches of the military. More so US does have to take out a loan to produce its weapons or anything else for that matter and from who? China of course.

So what you're saying, is that the rocket propelled chainsaw is actually a good idea?

Are you fucking kidding?

Yes, I am fucking kidding, it is a joke. Unlike you I know the difference between what can be done and what can't be, you're the one who thinks that there are missiles that bury underground before detonation and sniper rifles that can shoot out to 50 miles. I was referring to the weapons I posted in my previous post, I never thought anyone would be stupid enough to think that I am suggesting that the rocket propelled chainsaw is being produced.

Sometimes the idea of a nation exists without a figurehead. For example throughout the 90s and even today many engineers in the Russian defense industry took on other jobs so they could invest their own money into the defense project that the government wasn't able to afford just to keep the industry alive to protect their nation. You're trying to rationalize everything but some things you just can't do it with. I am a Russian, so whatever happens I will always be on the side of my nation, because it is my nation, and I would be a bastard if I did anything different. Then a nation has a long history and many things to be proud of it people living there want to contribute to that nation so that what their ancestors did isn't in vain. So yes then I say WE sent the first man to space I say that we did it as Russians, as a nation and if I become a successful engineer down the line and invent something great then I will have no trouble contributing my accomplishment to my nation.
You state: "so whatever happens I will always be on the side of my nation"; whoever controls "whatever happens" in Russia is the figurehead - you just defined it for yourself. That is rational, it's called "an ideology, a sentiment, a form of culture, or a social movement that focuses on the nation" and it is "not having or based on reason or intelligence; absolute and unquestioning." Thus, it is blind (definition 2) nationalism (definition 1). It is completely rational, it is a social and/or political system in which someone can manipulate others to do he or she wants.

In that case there are no free societies in this world.
There aren't, but some are freer than others.

You have it wrong, this isn't about following a figurehead but rather the perceived destiny of a nation that has formed over many centuries. I doubt you can ever understand this, there is a certain difference between the government and the country. Its not about following Putin or Medvedev, its about following our cultural and historical identity. Putin and his gang are temporary, the belief in Great Rus and its destiny has been around for a 1000 years and isn't going anywhere. It gives us both the strength and motivation to achieve. I just gave you an example, those engineers I talked about, they could have found another job that paid well, no one in the government asked them to invest their own money to keep the factories afloat, they did it because money isn't everything, defense of their nation is of more value to them. My own Grandfather, a biochemist, in the 90s he was invited to US to give lectures before the scientific community there, after that he was given job offers in the states with a good paycheck (he is an academic), he turned them all down, no one in the Russian government asked him to do that.

Only on the surface, Americans for example while they can whine all they want with almost no repercussions (but their whining doesn't accomplish anything anyways) they are slaves to consumerism, to dead end jobs and "competitive" rather than living wages. Your freedom to whine replaced your freedom of thought.

Aww, you're still bitter over the Thinking without Language thread. How cute.

Also, if you expected us to seriously discuss why 'russia is better than the us in every way', perhaps it's best to not start a thread with some kind of laser pistol, followed by a rocket-propelled chainsaw gun.
