i think i joined when you were a "Nazi" but eh.

Honestly I think the future of BF is going to be us as 20 year olds just yelling at the kids joining for whatever games telling them to get out for being new.

We are people of habit and ritual... BF has become part of our lives in a way. Even if we don't like it, its something to do, and then it becomes a sucker without us knowing and boom. We are still here after all this boring time.

We've been having this discussion for God knows how long and we're still here. I think y'all are worrying far too much. We'll pull through, we always seem to manage to.

-Frank
Cause after we all cut each other's throats with insults and destruction, we are left with... silence. And thus, people get along.

There was a time when Battleforums was in a great darkness. This was roughly right after what happened with/to Tweak.

After Tweak the forum was NEVER the same. Seriously, a lot of shit happened.

Eric's punishment methods are a little too extreme. Some people deserve it, others don't deserve as bad. I think that is probably one reason why a lot of people hate him.

As for the recent Renzo sacking, I don't think it was a good idea. I trust Renzo when he was operating the WoW section. And after looking at some posts there, I did notice order. But the only problem was he was extremely disruptive in some parts of the forum, when he shouldnt be (no offense to you buddy).

I for one want him to keep posting there, and I didn't mean for him to get de-staffed either.

BF is just a place to waste your time now. It has no meaning because our staff can't get their heads out of their own asses and we have no true leadership. Basically the mods are posters who can talk shit in bstaff and move posts...besides that they are nothing.

It's really not as bad as you frame it. Some staff members can act like generic Battleforums member and still not have it interfere with their job. If you want to generalize mods, a more correct way would be posters that can move posts (moderate), add content, and cannot talk shit in bstaff because that has/is being stopped. 'Talking shit' is counter productive and right now we're trying to slowly get the 'shit' change to constructive criticism. Moving the discussion to BStaff where flaming is not allowed. That itself is a small, yet needed, step in the right 'direction'.

The leadership is also starting to take a productive form. From one on one conversations, to higher-ish staff meetings in chatrooms, there is actually discussion without the "ZOMG I HAVE RABIES AND WANT TO BE ROACH'S BUTTPIRATE" that is more common than some people would think. We're talking about new things to add and are adding it. Take the two new forums for example, maybe they'll both fail, but what have we to lose? Maybe the Card Forum will catch on and it'll be a success but the music forum will fail or vise versa. Change is happening, not to mention the great job being done so far in the sc2 forum.

There is a direction, however the change is gradual and ongoing.

If they do, how exactly does that interfere with them moderating/adding content to the sections that they moderate? The main person responsible for weeding spam out of the Asylum at the moment is Jim Morrison - that being one of the things discussed in a staff meeting and implemented soon after rather than the typical talk for a month and have no change (as you know from your time in qt). Trying to get spam out of the Asylum is more than a get MorningStar and Renzo out of it (I'm not implying you're saying that) and it is being treated that way. Personally, I think the staff we have right now, including Renzo + MorningStar, is workable.

They should follow the rules everywhere. Not just in their own sections....Being representatives of our fine staff and all.

So, because we're staff members, we can't have some fun every so often?

Sorry, didn't realize Hitler was in charge of the forums.

You can have fun and yet still follow the rules....but you are obviously above the rules now. What a joke.

I was editing my post when you posted the response, so I'll just bold the part I added in the last post below:

'If they do, how exactly does that interfere with them moderating/adding content to the sections that they moderate? NO they should be allowed to stay in the asylum. So long as they follow the rules. If they don't want to follow the rules then they shouldn't be on staff. It's that simple.

Right now, as the Asylum transitions to having less to no spam, everyone is being held to the same standards. As the standards gradually rise they will be expected to keep up.

I don't believe i spammed in the asylum, i wasn't one of the bandwagoners who kept posting 'Get. Over. It' (For example). If you think i did spam, please show evidence.

I don't even like spamming, so i don't understand what you're getting at anyway. I don't like you (That's obvious) so i troll your posts and flame you in the asylum, that's about it. If you can't handle that then don't post in the asylum.

I moved your post and insulted you in the thread name because you reposted the same thing even though Ben (Jim Morrison) had already split the previous same post. Why don't you stop breaking the rules? It's a two way street.

the future in bf depends on the games that blizzard pumps out and on the members of the forum (and other potential members)

since bf has had a loyal following. there are always returning users and users leaving and such, i believe discussions in bf would evolve from less mature to more sophisticated discourse. this one is for sure. we will see less of that "spontaneity" in the void or asylum. instead it may be replaced with "witty" rhetoric and ivy league rebuttals outfitted with prolix syntax. so on and so forth. it is already beginning.

The discussions will look more and more like the ones we see in the arcane sanctuary... the r eason is obvious, members are aging, going to college and gaining an liberal arts education...
