I say people who are Athiast is better than the people who believe in god. Geez... you know c9 you're being racist (by the 1st post) by saying people who don't believe in god are weak minded. That's racist saying people who don't believe in god are weak minded. Well you know what? The religion is suppose to be a way of life and peace but all I've seen from this is hatred and curroption so basically if you're believing in god you're believing in hatred and curroption.

How is he being racist? Racism is "discrimination or prejudice based on race," and Christianity and athiesm are religions/lifestyles and have nothing at all to do with what race you are.

Christianity is about loving everyone and living with that as your first priority. The Christians who preach love and peace but live hatred are the ones who most Christians are offended by. Please don't judge all Christians based on the ones you hear about, who are (unfortunately) the ones who aren't very good people :/

Uhhh correction to think someone that doesn't believe in god are weak minded that's racism in one way. Racism is to also think that one race is better than another and yes he says people who don't think of god exist are weak minded and yes that's racism

Again, beliefs have nothing to do with race. I believe what you're tyring to explain is prejudice ("irrational suspicion or hatred of a particular group, race, or religion").

What he's saying is that it's just as stupid to say "All people who don't believe in God are weak-minded" as it is to say "All people who do believe in God are weak-minded." He's pointing out that generalizations like these are unreasonable.

Unreasonable? or so good that we all need to start using them more?

In all fairness I did clear it up in one or my earlier posts that I was only making it to the ones who are so dependent on God that if it was prooven that there was No god they would be lost and prolly just go insane. Pretty much a Matrix-like turn around where all you have grown up around and believed it would be false. But no way that's gonna happen so its all good.

I can see where you're coming from. I don't know if I'd define such Christians as "weak-minded," but I don't think it's good to be so dependant on God or so sure of yourself. The fact that the disproval of God would not affect my life much comforts me.

cxoli:Thus i would classify you as
The ones who believe in God and don't really take it to any extremes or even and mediums. I think they believe in God just to believe in something.
Maybe not but who cares.

Not many who are severly dependent on him but they are out there.

I would have to disagree, being atheist (sp? Cause i know there isnt a second A in there) and all, It is one thing to believe in God but it is another thing to have the deepest belief in him and try to recruit me. Thats some of the weak-minded ones I think. Some of them need to get others to believe to make themselves feel better and give them something to say to their family. "I just saved another soul from eternal, damnation." That would be jahovas witnesses but its still a religion. And christianity is the biggest so thats why I made my "report" (if you will) on them. Cause they are the biggest where I am located.

Heh, almost. That's correct in that I don't take my religion to any extremes -- Christianity is my lifestyle, not my obsession. But I don't "believe in God just to believe in something," but because out of the various theories, the existance of a God makes the most sense to me. I believe in way more than just God, anyway.

try to recruit me
Again, this is a minority of Christians. I could say the same thing about atheists.

"Man those atheists! They get on forums and make threads about how there is no god, trying to force their opinions upon me! What the hell did I do to get my views attacked so viciously?"

;)

Or I could rant about how a minority of atheists do a lot of drugs. Or whatever. The main point I'm making here, is don't judge everyone by the actions of a minority. You try to make it sound like 90% of the christians out there are actively trying to convert people, when I'd say it's more like 10%.

I think you got it a little confused there, buddy. Actually its people who believe in fairy-tales(God) are the ones who are weak minded. I mena common, atheists try to explain things, Christians are just a bunch of lazy asses who say tha God did it.
Prove to me God is a fairy tale. Also please continue explaining on the point that "Christains" are lazy because I can't see why you'd think that.

c9h13no3 said:
The reasons Atheists don't believe in God is because they can't. They can't fathom there being a God. Their minds don't have the power to even see how that would be possible. It goes against the grain of everything they've ever seen. Sounds to me like their weak. And all of them must be weak. Because broad generalizations are always good things to make when arguing, especially when those generalizations are only backed up by my opinion.QUOTE]

Or they could just choose not to believe because of the values they grew up/are growing up with. Also, I agree 100% with your opinion part except it's more of just that one guy.

Atheists are stronger then believers. Atheists don't need to believe in God in order to compensate for weakness of the mind, like Christinas do. Christians can't open themselves to a possibility that humans are strong enough to get rid of superstition(god) and live their lives believing in their own power. Christians are weak because they need God to explain thigns for them, their brains lack power to actually try and find something out for themselves.
The majority of that is something called pride and and opinion. As for being weak for having God explain things to "Christains" I still don't see were your going at here. So far all you've done is said Christains are lazy and weak minded and given no proof at all and only opinion.

People who believe in God are close minded, they can't open themselves to a possiblity of everything being created by nature rather then some higher being.
If you've studied anything about the actual teachings from the Vatican then you'd know that they don't say that God created everything as it is now, many things such as evolution and big bang type theories all work with there being God. Did God create the universe in 7 days? Most likely not, it is the bible being symbolic saying God created everything perfect (And then we screwed it all up).

If you proove with scientific facts that God exists, then atheists will believe you, if you proove with scientific facts that God doesn't exist then religious people still won't believe you.
Read my philosophical look at God post.
http://www.battleforums.com/showthread.php?t=78403

Religious people are closed minded because there is only one possibility they consider
That is opinion not truth.

and that possibility does not meet with neither facts or logic. I am talking about deeply religious people here.
I believe myself to be "deeply religious" so once again read my post which looks at god philosophically.

I am in a neutral state. If there is a God, great. If there isnt, superb. I am not going to live my life worshipping and praying to a Being that lets billions burn eternally. So whatever.. Ill find out when I die
Another common misconception is that there is nothing saying that hell is burning such as implied by various non religious books. Hell is a place where your connection to God is eternally cut off. You may not know that he is with you but he loves everyone, even ones who don't believe in him.
Note: If you do not believe in him you can still go to heaven.

want some logical proof kuzmich if there is no god how did we get the are time system of B.C.(before christ) and A.D. and why does the bible trace back so far its been around longer than any history or science book and if you don't belive then your saying some guy decided one day to right the whole bible and make up a religion out of nowhere and lastly did you know darwin denounced his theory on his deathbed
First, the B.C - A.D system was made by man in the 4th century I believe. And if you were implying it or not, the bible is not ment to be historically accurate. Also, Darwin's theory of evolution does not disprove God, which is another thing that I talked about in my "Philosophical look at God" thread (link a few paragraphs up).

I never said it was one guy, it was many men who were fanatics and to strengthen their religion they wrote the Bible which reflects the real history of the Jewish people but adds God to all of it. A nice fair tale i must say. There are science books that are older then the bible. Everything Pythagorus, or Archimides wrote. We got B.C and A.D. because europe was very religious at one point, and Church controled everything, and priests were the only educated ones, they were the ones who were writing dow the history, they needed a system to record the events by date and they believed is god so they tied two together. There are other cultures that don't use A.D., B.C., for example Chinese don't use it. In western world no one wants to change the system because it is convenient enough and everybody is used to it. It has no relation to some magical supercreature who you think made the world.
Once again, your just making up facts, the bible is NOT EVER to be taken historically accurate. Also, if what you imply is correct it would be a novel not a fairy tale.

First of all how could they make B.C. without jesus are you saying that some people just made a wild guess and said hey the savior of the human race was just born and if religion was created because of the jewish thing then the whole rest of the bible was just fabricated and you say all religion was created from that incedent well the jewish people were religious to so you say the belief in god was created after some people were freed even though they already belived in god no one believed in god till after they were freed and still what do you have to say about the darwin thing
The calendar was made in the 4th century. When it was 0 A.D. the calendar did not exist.

he was protecting his family, his freinds, or maybe he just wanted to make sure, he was after all raised as a christian, although i don't see how this has any relation to god not existing, darwin was just one man, he palyed a major part, but others played a big one also.
How did he play a major part if his theory doesn't do anything prove anything against/for God.

The bible is to hypocritical, and the god of said bible is to big of a dick to ever be considered real in my book.
I think I said it before, but the bible is to be taken theologically, not literally, not historically, not in any other way than theologically.

There are plenty of old religous text, and they are all just as full of shit as the bible. Out of curiousty are you a YEC?
Same answer as the quote above.

Who made god? If we need a creator, then so does he. Religion doesn't match up right with common sense (it also doesn't match up with science- which unlike god is a reality).
Actually it does, you just have to actually study it. You have the read the bible in the context it was written for.

Science is common sense. Religion is bullshit and fairy tales.
Actually the correct way to say it is science explains how and religions explains why.

Who made god?
God has always been and will ever be. Don't tell me to prove it, you disprove it.

We were created in His image, but not exactly like Him
All that was meant in we were created like him is we have free will.

This thread isn't worth typing much effort, but I'll chime in a few sentences if I may. It's funny trying to talk to someone overly pro-science when it comes to life and belief. "Science says" and "Well, Science" seem to be the first and only points to make. My only reply to these people, who seem to infest this thread is this: Try to explaign Science to those aboard the shuttle Challenger, when it blew up, killing everyone aboard, Science said before lift-off everything was fine. Try to explain science to the poor families who lived in Chernobyl, who the lucky ones, lost everything and not their lives. A standard operating proceedure killed over 4,300 people in that case. On a funnier side you have scientists who were thinking problems will happen when the years went from 1999 to 2000. In my experiences with religion and science, I've found a good religion is constant, whereas science is constantly backtracking, cleaning up mistakes, then claiming it's better then religion, until the next big science mistake and the science cycle happens again.
Wow, I have to say that saying science is wrong is religion is right is completely wrong. All of these things happen from human error. We aren't perfect, we make mistakes, bad things happen.

I just don't understand how they can believe in something they can't see, hear, or talk to.
You can't see submicroscopic things with the naked eye, so why do you believe in them? You have never proven for yourself they exist, have you? You just believe what books have told you.

its hard to belive theres a god when things like war and murder over 5 ****ign dollars exsist... also heres a little consept for you

lets say there is a murderer that has kiled hundreds of people. now a few mounths befor he dies he confeses all his sins and finds god...

now lets say theres a nice guy who dotn belive in god that has helped people get off drugs and given money to charity or to homless people he sees on the streets...

now to say the killer would go to heven and the nice guy will go to hell... sorry, but you people are out of your ****ing minds.

and as for the people who dont belive in god are weak minded, no we just live in the real world. people who belivei n god are week minded, they cant come up with an exsplenashion of what happens when your dead and how teh earth starts so they go "oh i know god did it." theres a $20 bill on the ground "aw sweet god put this here for me"
All of this is made from our free will and sin, I don't see what this has to do with disproving God. Also, Christains can go to hell and athiests can go to heaven. The Roman Catholic church does not say you have to be Catholic or even Christain to go to heaven.
"The last shall be first and the first shall be last".

well from the number of christain i know they think god does everything
As I said above, most American Christains these days take religion as just a chore or such, most as I said above, can't even tell you what Pentecost is without google-ing it.

Once i kicked my friends hand to grab a 5 that was being blown away by the wind. When it comes to money people are relentless. So that is my view on the collection plates at church. God never needed money before, he won't need it know.

If God is real or not, its people like priests that abuse peoples faith to get money. Which is one of the many reasons why I stopped going to church.
God doesn't need money to exist, the church needs money because that is what our society is based on. If there wasn't money how would churches go up and stay up?

When i was going to a Catholic School one of my best friends had to leave because his mom went to college and couldn't go to church. The head Priest Sent a letter, to my mom as well, if they didn't go to church and donate a small fee they would raise the tuition of school year.

It is one of the the few priests that do shit like that but its still bullshit. Religious has become to man-made to be real or worth it anymore. When i say man-made I mean the ones that used to send people into wars for religion.

Not smart enough to come up with another paragraph
Ever get the idea catholic schools were originally made for catholics?

God gave us a choice...believe in God or suffer
When did he say that? I said it earlier and I said it again, you can not believe and him and go to heaven and you can believe in him and go to hell.

First, it's stereotypical, not racist. Second, your being hyprocritical by saying you believe that "Athiast is better than the people who believe in god". And it appears your not looking at the church if you see hatred.

---
Well, I caught up on this post, responding to virtually every point since the first point. Hope you had fun reading it. Also sorry bout the double post, i reached the limit on a post.

I'm not going to address this whole thread, I really just wanted to post on one thing really. I wanted to say that the name of the thread "All people who say God doesn't exist are weak minded" in itself is an ignorant statement because it makes a very broad statement and though I didn't check to see what kind of proof was shown to back this up, I'm sure there was no real proof because the fact is that this statement can easily be proven wrong with an example of one person who is not weak minded and does not believe in God. Now I am not that person (because I for one have a belief in God) and I don't want to look into giving an example because I didn't read the thread and have no idea if an example has been given. I might post again later if I feel the need to address any issues that stand out to me, but that's all I've got to say for now I guess.

The weal minded are those who still cling onto christianity and related religions.

For one, the bible was not written and generalized for thousands of years, it was a freaking fable until people published it, and only recently there was a general version, so in the end, only the general point of the story remains, most of it is made up or exagerated.

To add, Catholics are the dumbasses who thought the world was the center of the universe. What stupid assholes, with no proof, they come up with the assumption that they are the center of the universe. They burned and cursed all who spoke against their beliefs for 200 years or so.

Theyre also the retards who did witchhunts and such.

They now molest kids

There is absolutely no evidence that god exists. Even if a god existed, their idea is obviously wrong, and was and is used as a tool for intolerance, by generally claiming him white and male, and supreme to all life. Remind you of the Nazis' Aryan Race?

There is plenty of evidence god doesn't exist. The big bang, the fact that the bible is bullshit, are just a few.

You people assume all fanatics but you are wrong. Again, self centered, ignorant, intolerant, and stupid.

Anyone who believes in the bible's view of a god is stupid enough to vote for Kerry, and quite possibly stupid enough to vote for Nader.

It was sarcasm. C9h13no3 was making a broad statement with no real proof to point out that such statements are pointless and stupid. I think he was making it because most people in AS say the opposite, and he was pointing this out to prove a point.

First off, basically everything that you said was previously said and answered in my 2 posts above. Please read it before you start talking again. For what wasn't covered I'll answer though.

Where you put:
What stupid assholes, with no proof, they come up with the assumption that they are the center of the universe. They burned and cursed all who spoke against their beliefs for 200 years or so.
If your saying theories that are completely accepted makes people "stupid assholes" then you might as well flame everyone in the world. Heres an example that puts theories without proof as very common back in those days. I'll use a famous guy just to make it easier to understand. In virtually all of Europe it used to be believed that fire burnt out because of a magical substance called phlageston. Once a room filled with this fire went out. This belief was in Europe for over two hundred years. Eventually this was challenged but people all throughout Europe refused to believe that the phlageston theory was false. Eventually Antwon Lavasiere (I really hope if your on this forum you know who he is) disproved this by showing that it was a lack of oxygen that put out fire. But to relate this to what you've said, false theories without proof are very easy to find and it wasn't just the church that did them. So basically you might as well call all of Europe and all of their descendants "stupid assholes" for having a false theory. There are many more if I must expand on this.

For one, the bible was not written and generalized for thousands of years, it was a freaking fable until people published it, and only recently there was a general version, so in the end, only the general point of the story remains, most of it is made up or exagerated
Thousands of years, I think not. The OT, aka Heberw Scriptures were written down when Israel was conquered by the Persians and the Jews (known as Hebrews at that time) wrote down the OT in Persopolis during their captivity.

As for the new testament, that was written down between 50 - 100 A.D when the eyewitnesses of the mircales of Christ began dying. As for thousands of years, it wasn't even one thousand years.

They now molest kids
The statistics show that .02% of "AMERICAN" priests were molesting children, doesn't that sound like a lot? As I said above, religion is taken a lot more seriously in Europe than it is here in the states.

There is absolutely no evidence that god exists. Even if a god existed, their idea is obviously wrong, and was and is used as a tool for intolerance, by generally claiming him white and male, and supreme to all life. Remind you of the Nazis' Aryan Race?

Where did I say that?

I'm talking about catholics in general

-- I have no time to read all that bs --

I doubt that the 50-100 AD book is the same as what we read today, and 0.02% of priests is still a lot of kids f**ked in the ass. I'm harsh on this because one of the priests at my old church was transferred there for molestation, so I left and dropped religion, bout time anyways. As for your thing about europe, I'm mostly talking about the fact that the world is not the center of the universe, and from what it sounds like, you're calling it a prooven fact, read my entire post next time. The catholic church were the people doing that BS, learn your history.

l33t, you do understand the idea of a theory right? the catholics assumed that earth was the center of the universe...why not? next thing your going to say is that catholics invented the idea that the world was flat.

if you say the catholic church in the dark-middle ages were anti scientist assholes, your wrong. In fact, a monk(i think, either that or priest) thought that birds flew because they had wings, so he constructed wings and tried to fly by jumping off a barn. you may see this as stupidity but it is a scientific experiment. The catholic church didnt like science becasue it takes money for science does it not? well the catholic church was quite greedy and didnt want people to spend their money on science when they could spend it on the church, thus they made a few laws against science. so no, catholics are not stupid...in general, maybe a few specific catholics are dumb but not generally.

you said learn your history...if you knew anything, witch hunts were conducted in salem for the most part by people that view god in a somewhat different way than catholics. these people were VERY superstisious and very odd, and thanks to that they murdered x ammount of people just because they wouldnt confess that they were witches when they wernt. learn your history.

priests are still human are they not? they are still corrupted by sin and thus they act on their own accord even though they should practice what they priest. the occasional (.02%) priest molests a child. he must be punished for his crimes as anyone else, there is no exception, he obviously didnt practice what he preached and should have never been a priest in the first place, there are a lot of people like that in the world.

big bang, theory, a very well thought out theory that may just be true, yet, it doesnt mean that the bible is false now does it? does it say, "oh, god didnt create man in 7 days because the big bang happend all at once" well, 7 is the number for perfection in the bible...im sure someone here can verify that, it has been said before...so why cant the big bang be part of creation?

i dont care how ignorant, close minded, etc. you say i am, because it doenst change the fact i believe in my religion as a fact, yet, still take classes that preach evolution as fact when it is merely theory until a missing link between humans and apes can be found.

now why would a christian vote for kerry? no really, why?

There are no "good" people.
There are none who follow religion for all they're worth, for there are none who follow anything for all they're worth.
Religion is a cover, a means for a person to feel secure about himself. It is something that some individuals need to feel purpose in life.
