I was watching the news and a story came up about a woman who was asked to leave an airplane because of her "offensive" T-shirt. Then they went to some radio guy who started saying how he didn't want his kids to here, look, or have anything to do with what he thought of as offensive.

So what are your opinions??

they never said, i would imagine it wasn't porn though, probably some "insult" or a political statement they didn't agree with.

In most cases I would definitely say that's not right. I really need to know what the shirt was, though.

Having the right to ban (or throw out of the plane) anything that offends each one of us personally is a very dangerous abuse of democracy. What was on the shirt is irrelevant ( but I would also like to know - for curiosity purposes only:D)

Well, if it was a black man, and the woman had, in her shirt, something in the lines "I'm going to Antranhx all the ****ing ******s.", I will assume he had the right not to like it.

Probably wouldn't be that, though. She would have been kicked out way before she got on the plane.

I would imagine it wasn't something as offensive as Tronga posted. Maybe something like that shirt that says "Not my president" and shows Bush.
I think the measure they took was very uncalled for. If they wanted they could have told the woman to cover her shirt or put on another one, but that would have been censuring. Though, that would have been better than getting banned from your flight.

since everyone has a different definition of "offensive" the t-shirt could have been almost anything, but they had a pic and it was blurred out so i couldn't tell what was, but it seemed like only words. either way they shouldn't have made her leave, like steven said, they could have just asked her to cover her shirt.

Ok I found a spanish newspaper that says what it was. It was a shirt that had a couple having sex. If any of you understand or can translate it somehow, here's the piece of text.

"Miami, DPA y Redacción. Una pareja que salió de Costa Rica hasta Miami, en Estados Unidos, fue bajada de un avión por obscena, ya que la versión oficial señala que uno de ellos portaba una camiseta con una pareja que se encontraba manteniendo relaciones sexuales."

Some kid when he was going to 8th grade or something was wearing an ICP shirt and was told to take it off or get it ripped off by a cop, because the cop purely didn't like the shirt. Now, granted, to cop got his ass sued off, but ya know...

Yeah...there was a similar case with a Manson shirt...only this was in school I think. It's the one where manson has an american flag wrapped around him..

I think he sued too...don't know if he won or not..

Stupid ignorant people...trying to cencor everything they don't like.

I have a shirt that said, "I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body." Nobody told me to take it off. :D

I believe that no matter how offensive a t-shirt is, that never should have happened. It violated my freedom of speech, more specifically symbolic speech. ;)
