FlashFlores, I always think that its not about how much you can lift...Its about staying healthy.

Bret, whey protein is totally natural because it's from a natural source. The thing is that milk pretty much is the only food source that has whey...and only 15% of its protein is whey...the rest is casein. Whey protein supplements (which are mainly powders) are made from milk and are of the best quality because they can be easily absorbed by your body.

Zmoney...thats the exact reason I want to take the supplement.

Whey protein is a necessity. I also recommend a multivitamin.

Why take pills? Just meat a lot of choice meats and work out? Give it time and you'll beef up. And its natural. Natural seems to be what people are looking for now a days.
Looking for Natural in Unnatural things. <<< Quote me on that one.
Because meat is loaded with cholestoral and saturated fats. AKA bad stuff for you.

my sister runs track for some MO baptist college and takes protein...i remember people in my high school using protein as well...protein basically helps build muscle faster...i dont see why that would cause any harm in your track performance

Good call for most anything but swimming, and even then it's debatable

I just started using whey protein not too long ago, and the results are really good. The stuff tastes decent too. My dad told me to use the stuff and it really does help build the muscle. I'm trying to fight his genetics, because they're wanting my body to be really muscular and thick. Hes in his 40's and uses whey as well. Pic!

^Doubt he'd want his pic randomly posted on a gaming forum.

I just want to build an ass! I do the protein + lifting that helps the ass + cardio. Its gooood!

As a formal and current supplement user, all I can say is you pay for the quality of a product. Just do some reasearch and find the product that fits your needs best. If you want mass get a mass gainer like GNC sells or if you want to maintain your weight and put on lean muscle buy whey protien. Of course to see even better results you must have healthy eating habbits. <--my worst enemy heh.

as to the question of protien and track. Its iffy -- from my experience I put on too much muscle(mainly uppper body) and did not improve my times in the 400m dash. never could break my personal best of a 52.5 which was my sophmore year of high school.

About the track, I think there is an optimum weight you must stay at. I know that for the 100m dash you need to be pretty bulked up. But, Im not too sure about the 1-2 mile run. However, you probably need a decent amount of muscle on your frame unlike the crosscountry runners.

Tatu, I strongly advise you not to get too cut and bulky because it looks really unattractive on women. As for the ass building, try to isolate your gluts because you definitely dont want to get thighs that are defined (as in bodybuilder cut).

I think im going to start taking whey protein. I'm going to go for the optimum nutrition 100% whey. It seems to be very good because it has the 4 grams of glutamine and other essential amino acids.

You need 1 Gram of protein per Lb you weigh per day.

Look at your intake and decide are you getting enough....
