You're right, the reason we have religions is because we are afraid of dying. I wish there were a after-life but theres no evidence and there really can't be because people can't tell you if theres a heaven if they are dead. Reincarnation would be as bad as death... You don't remember anything you are someone else, "you" is just you're mind thats erased so bye bye you.
No, we have religions because we strongly believe in something. I'm Christian, so I do believe in some version of Heaven and Hell, but I have also accepted the fact that there might not be anything after death. Still, I'm not the least bit afraid of dying. I don't think it really matters what happens after you die, just as long as you life your life with a passion.

that would suck. it would be so boring. i dont believe in the "poof" theory because if we're all just gone in the end whats the point of living for 90 years or whatnot. i think that u get reincarnated several times, each time forgetting ur past life until eventually u earn ur way into heaven, and u can remember all ur lives. iono thats just what i think
Otmorosok is right, bro, that's Buddhist. It's basically the concept of Nirvana -- living virtuous lives until you are able to let go of material desires and reach a sort of peace. I believe in that, too, to some extent.

Anyway, I'll tell you what I'd like to think happens after you die. You are not granted access to Heaven (which we usually think of as clouds and angels and eternal peace) or condemned to Hell (which we usually think of as weeping and gnashing of teeth and eternal suffering), but rather you are given a choice of where to go. You can choose Hell, which is everything you ever wanted on Earth (fame, fortune, etc.). Or, you can choose Heaven, which is eternal service to God (as in hard work). I have no idea if this is what it would really be like, but I like to think of it this way because knowing that I would choose this version of Heaven over this version of Hell gives me a sense of satisfaction and allows me to live my life without worrying what's going to happen after.

Really, lol. It was a short period that he was in a sorta stasis but he was lucky to not have anymore side effects. I don't think we will be able to safely do it for a while so..

More along the lines of Hinduism. Buddhists believe that in order to escape samsara (the painful cycle of death and rebirth) and move into Nirvana, you have to destroy the self. Nirvana, literally translated, means extinction, meaning to make the self extinct. Buddhists don't believe souls, or selves.

For a minute I thought you were talking about the band, or are you? I'm saying that the russians soilders heart rate (so they probally thought he was dead because the pulse was so weak they couldn't feel it) ect was slowed down because of the cold, which is a sort a stasis. It must of been warmer on the train his systems must of like "reactivated". The toll for this was his eyesight, thats why people haven't attempted cyrostasis yet.

Mormons...

Keep in mind I'm 13 almost 14 and I really don't pay attention during church, so if your a mormon or you truley know what mormons think then don't yell at me please.

According to mormons when you die you go to a place called "Spirit Prison" this is the place where you are judged. Missionaries (people who know the gospel get to become one of these(dunno how long they have to be one)) and teach people the gospel who never had the chance. Even if they rejected it on Earth. If they decline it i think they go to hell not sure, but if they accept it they have to repent and then they get to go to one of the 3 levels of heaven (yes sounds messed up). If a kid dies before becoming 8 years old they automaticly go to the highest level of Heaven (Dont you just wish your parents had dropped you a few more times? lol)

I forget the rest so if your mormon or truley know what happens correct me and finish it.

I heard this from one of my friends, and discussed it with my neighbor (though my version may be a little different than theirs). I like this version of Heaven and Hell better, because it seems like more of a judge of your character, and gives you something to think about ^_^
