What happens when we die?

only reason all the thousands of years of believing in an Almighty is because the human race cant let themselves think there is nothing after life. nothing at all. we are just gone. nothing else happens to us.

and if u do figure out and can tell yourself that there is nothing after ur life, then u have an extremely strong mind. most people can't do it, thats why we have all these religions...

You're right, the reason we have religions is because we are afraid of dying. I wish there were a after-life but theres no evidence and there really can't be because people can't tell you if theres a heaven if they are dead. Reincarnation would be as bad as death... You don't remember anything you are someone else, "you" is just you're mind thats erased so bye bye you.

That's the beauty of the poof theory. It wouldn't be borring, since you wouldn't be concious to experience it. You would no longer exist. And, there really is no point in living for 90 years other than ensuring the continued survival of your race.

I sort of go with the "Poof" theory.

But I would point out that our "energies" still exist on earth no matter what. We simply get "recycled." So a part of us remains...actually all of us remains but in different forms.

Something about the laws of thermodynamcis whatnot....

After death, there are five main ideas that people has as to what would happen.

1. There is nothing afterward.
2. The physical world is an illusion, so death actually sets the sould free
3. After death, the sould continues alone, but the body is left dead.
4. The soul is reincarnated into another form.
5. The soul and body are resurrected at the end of the world.

I believe in the fifth.

what if you got cut up or blown up or something so your body wasnt in one piece... or any pieces at all... would you be a living heap of rotten flesh when u are ressurected? or do you get a new body just like the old one?

hmm, yes i remember there as a dude who was thought dead and thrown on the train carrying dead Russian soldiers out of Chechnya, but then he woke up, amongst the corpses. I got to go find more info on this.

Well that can be explained I mean if some one has just died, then he/she could very easily suffer from hallucinations. It is very possible for that russian soilder to "wake up" like that, he could of gone into a sorta coma and somehow resuscitated himself.

No it was diagnosed that it was a special condition, then your baddy cant handle the extremes(temperature, psycholgical tension, stuff like that) then it shuts down, your pulse stops, but then the buddy got occumelated enough energy it starts again.

Yes, I have heard of something very similar to that. There were these ants (in the dinosaur period in antartica) that froze every seasonal equivelent to winter. And every time it got warmer the gradually came back to life and started all over again. People are thinking of putting people into "cyrostasis" (sp) with a technique similar to this.

Well that soldier lost his vision after he woke up, so i dont think thats suh a good idea to put ppl in stasis.

Really, lol. It was a short period that he was in a sorta stasis but he was lucky to not have anymore side effects. I don't think we will be able to safely do it for a while so..
