What happens when we die?

I know most of you think that yuo go to heaven when yuo die and I agree with that (im presbiterian) but I can help but think what if we dont? What if our "spirit" or whatever you want to call it stay in our bodies? That would definatly suck seeing as most people get buried or creamated.

I was just wondering what you thought.

Well as atheist i believe that we just go poof, and there is no more us, but i would like to believe in reincarnaiton, spiritual immortality would rock, but for right now i believe in the poof theory.

That is not what I would think but I guess it is reasonable.

But isnt it scary to think of the possibility that we may not go anywhere but we may just stay in our body with no sighns of life? Can you imagine what it would be like to be buried for eternity?

Theres really millions of possibilites as to what happens when we die, it's kept me up for good portions of the night at times.

Theres the chance that the afterlife is actually more horrible then our life now.

That we could just be an "ant" farm to amazingly superior beings

The simple fact that your dead, no more thinking just "the end"

My personal belief is that when you die, your dead...theres no afterlife it's just death plain and simple

in my mind we are nothing more then animals, albeit it very advanced but we are still just animals

Which brings me back to my origonal post that we just die and remain in our bodie but have no control over it or show no signs of life.

I mean, do u mean a "soul"

or do u mean the "awareness" that your dead but you cant do ANYTHING

Cause if you mean awareness, all your organs and stuff decompose and stuff, so ur brain wont be there for long!

That would be horrible, you know i heard there are people who make pencils out of cremated ashes. And some people actually use tha service. I hope that doesnt happen, i mean if you go poof at least you dont feel any more pain, but if what you say is true than its aobut time to start living in a vaccumed room, with no sharp objects in it, breathing pure, unpoluted air through a straw.

Im talking about our soul and awareness being still in our body. So that we have the ability to think but cannot move or speak. Basicly we would be at the mercy of other people.

Well, i dont believe in a soul or anything like that, i believe all conciousness comes from ur mind itself

so when ur mind turns into fertilizer ur done thinking !

Well, I plan on getting cremated, so, I don't think I have to worry about my consciousness staying in my body for eternity.

Personally, I find reincarnation to be the most logical choice, if we do have souls. If we don't, poof, no more existance.

that would suck. it would be so boring. i dont believe in the "poof" theory because if we're all just gone in the end whats the point of living for 90 years or whatnot. i think that u get reincarnated several times, each time forgetting ur past life until eventually u earn ur way into heaven, and u can remember all ur lives. iono thats just what i think

Poof theory all the way. Honestly, I wouldn't want to exist after dying. Living for an ETERNITY would suck so much, and it would get VERY borring after a few years.
