unhadled access
Technically, that doesn't make alot of sense.

For the most part (depending on what OS you're on), if you atempt to edit and save a file already accessed (like an executable), you will get a "shared access violation" error, because windows won't allow you to change a file alread ybeing used. This would not require Diablo II to crash, it just couldn't update the file.

On top of that, the game doesnt actually use the EXE after its ran, because its loaded into memory. Thus, another person clinging to a invalid belief. On top of that, if you *really* wanted to crash Diablo II, it wouldnt be that hard. Get a memory viewer (code in urself, its not hard..), or open up C and do some random MoveMemory commands, after getting the address of Diablo II's instance and accessed objects.

the sence of jit disassemblers is that u can change the memory without getting funky errors. in u dont get along with d2common, just fill diablo ii.exe memory with nops,,,

Wing, you aren't supposed to edit files, if you dont know what is being talked about, learn more first...

Memory doesn't always mean files, anyway, if it was based on editing a file, it would be game.exe in the diablo 2 folder, but by doing so, you screw the game up and stop it from working (I assure you this isn't what you want).

If you want to know what happens, download the latest d2hackit, load it, and type .crash, this will crash your game too....

Dude I'm not saving the edited file :O)
I'm just changing it then quit... Or what was I supposed to do to make D2 crash so I can dupe?

.....quit, right now.
You wont dupe by doing this.
You are supposed to edit the memory of the running process.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FILE, I dont care if you didn't save the file, editing it wont work. This whole method is based on hoping that when it crashes it rolled back (didn't save changes).

Geez, you dont understand this at all, so stop trying, give up, you are wasting time.

I personally think this should be locked.
