What Legendary/Classic Maps do you think there are in the world of Starcraft + Broodwar.

For me I say:

Turret Defense because I think that is the first map that made people start putting colors and square terrain in maps. It has the power to make you play, play, play, and play again even though you still lose all the time. This map has so many versions it's mind shattering.

Golem Madness because that has revolutionized the meaning of madness. It has made people broaden their thoughts on madness maps. It has moved from Golem Madness to Yu-Gu-Oh Duelist Arena to Yu-Gi-Oh Defense all having the same basic - making golems with a cimbination. It requires a person with good memory for the combinations to make a golem until the discovery of a beacon with the list of the golem combination. Like Turret Defense, Golem Madness has a lot of versions, too.

Disease Defense because it has changed the face of defense maps. It has gave people the freedom to build and do anything in the map. You can build from all three races. Matrix 4 way 3 race lets you build anything but you have a certain place to defend. Disease is like that but bigger. It's a protect the heart game. It's a drawing game. You can like draw a beard on the face with pylons.

Snow/Ice Bound because it has inspired people to make so much more bound maps. It has added a new type of map to SC. It's still popular. It starts from one Bound map and evolves to over 1000 bound maps. It requires pure skills and timing. Probably one of the shortest map, but one of the "funnest" map.

Do any of you guys know any other Legendary/Classic maps that has revolutionized the world of Starcraft + Broodwar.

I would add Bunker Madness and Lurker Defence

The first lurker defence map was just lurkers 5 vertical islands and it wasn't a team game and at the end all players won

Hydra Ranchers, Bunker Wars, and Starship Troopers

The first two were great but evolved into some crap that the dang map-rigging stealers devised. Hydra ranchers is rather rigged for a certain unit in each one now, so you can't really trust it either. Hydra Ranchers also had square tiling. Starship troopers isn't that common of a game, but the mere fun of getting slaughtered by swarms of zerg is just the best. Evolves was rather prominent as well, although it got boring fast. Protect the queen was another one of my favorites, although people quickly rigged it up or found out how to mind control twenty units at once by getting a heal (bleh). All of them are definitely the old-timer Starcraft maps that deserved recognition at one time, however.

Personally, I think the bound maps are a little ridiculous. Bound this, bound that. Hell bound, heaven bound, girl bound, love bound, ice bound, goal bound, sky bound, death bound, George W. is going to ruin the economy bound (I made up this one but its true =P), you name it bound. I think they were half decent but not worth the 50 billion versions created.

Defense maps got a little out of control too--they still are, actually. Although I enjoy them, theres about every defense out there besides infested terran defense, so who wants to start making that?

As for golem madness--I've never played it. I think that now a good classic would be something NEW--not another defense, bound, or cyber hotel map. How hopeless must a guy have felt to make a map like that anyways? And no, I haven't joined a cyber hotel map, and I believe it is rather pitiful that this sort of activity is occuring over a game that children as young as eight to ten would play. I could understand Warcraft I fully at the age of six or seven (although for some reason I enjoyed paving the entire map), so don't say that an eight year old couldn't understand the difference between an ultralisk and a mineral patch.

Wow, I've totally obliterated my true meaning of this post. Oh well, what I said was true--we do need something brand spanking new that can have stuff stem off of it to form more games for the masses. We've got to move out of the past and get some new "classics." As a person ages all the way until they keel over dead and have the vultures begin ripping pieces off of their mishappen body, they get new ideas. Why can't Starcraft be the same way? What can I say--ranting at 2:30 AM is rather easy when you're too tired to bother holding back your thoughts.

I've been thinking about this. How about Arbitor Defense with the Stasis Field. Spawn Broodling Defense. I'm going to make arbitor defense so don't take it. Woah after stopping and thinking about this. I don't think there has been a lot of defense maps that are based on protoss. Maybe a few like corsair defense and carrier defense, and reaver defense, and cannon defense. But those are rarely played these days. alright maybe a defense like everytime you build a dt you get a civilian to buy hero protoss units. And everytime you kill units you get mineral. You can only use the minerals to build a dt.

Another classic could be the first map with the lights technique.

Aye, lighting technique is definitely something that is a classic. Well, when it works. Nothing like a map where you can't turn the lights back on.

Its a pity that 1 in 10 people on BNet have the stacking hack and such now. If this wasn't the case, I'm sure more people would be using the "lights off" technique in their maps.

Why, you grew old of it? Grew old of it at the age of 13? When did you start? Or do you just think that Starcraft is going no where right now because of the massive tampered maps in Battle.net? N e ways whatever you declare, I'll back you up 90%.

On sc? No... that would b snow bound, the first bound, jail break is a much more recent map.

Im not 13 master, im 12, i started last year (when i was 12) and im already tired of it, mostly because its stupid and rigged, and the other 50% is because roadrunner is blocking me from hosting games on wc3 (****ING DICKBRAINED SHITWHORES)

Ouch, But thats only WC3. Man you started last year? I started June of 2001. I haven't been playing much since then. I use to stay up all night playing games on Battle.net. It's slim down to like 3 games a day.

And I thought Obstacle Course was the map that started SnowBound and then continued on to many others.

OK I played V-tec paintball today and It was fun but gets pretty boring after a while.

And I forgot.

Battle.net Experience is a Legendary Map. It's a movie map but really funny!

X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter- Older versions were better, old classic map. Great map.

Obstacle Course- The map that restarted the "bound" craze (Jail Break was probably first though)

Don't Push the Button- First of it's kind:D

Zeratul's Arena- Old, still pretty fun, even though no one plays it anymore

Diplomacy- Pretty good map and fun.

Kinda hard to explain, i haven't played in awhile. You pick a country. And when you're in game you try to make allies with diffeent countries, usually close to you. Then with your teammate you try to take ove areas that belong to the people you didn't ally with. Places are marked with a beacon you build near a beacon you control that piece of territory. There are units that belong to your group only, like a special reaver or marine. It's kinda like WWII-Death in Europe if you played that.
