I can't do them. If someone wants to ring me up just to chat, i find the quickest way out of the conversation and hang up. I only want to talk about business, if you/i need something or anything equally important. But i wont sit around with a piece of plastic stuck to my ear talking to someone about how their day was. How technology has advanced!

Very soon, technology will involve conversation beyond what normal conversation offers - think simultaneous manipulation of something, such as virtual sketchpads for everyone in an IM conversation but on a more creative level. However, nothing beats face-to-face if possible, which is probably the irony of the statement. Phones are used to arrange face-to-face meetings with people - is this the future of phones?

As for IM, it's going to last as long as IRC if not longer. I consider it a seperate methodology from face-to-face as there are some things neither can replicate on each other.*

Not just sketchpads. Think collaborative Google Sketch (or 3D Studio Max), collaborative Garageband, and so on. Think about mother and child "playing" with virtual toys over MSN. Or 50 artists working on the same virtual image at the same time.*

No. I do them in MSN chats and I don't save them. Theres a drawing pad program on the MSN messenger that I just mess around with on with a few other members to pass the time while insulting eachother.

I dislike talking to people on the phone that are like telemarketers or pressuring salespeople. I only like talking to like 3-4 people on the phone. If I want to talk to someone, I just go on MSN and speak with them or I just go outside with them.
