ya go with a better mobo and a processor around 2.6 to 3.4ghz depending on how you feel and its not that expensive to get 512 more ram to get 1gb around like 75 dollars

Forget the RAM upgrade, it's good enough.

You could get away with 2.6Ghz and GeForce FX5650, I think. I'm not sure.

Processor speed isn't critical compared to other components, but 1.6Ghz is too slow nontheless.

Most modern games are both video processor intensive and processor intensive. Obviously your processor is limiting your computer right now. But another thing is, you probably cannot upgrader your processor until you upgrade your motherboard. The newer motherbaords have 4 ram slots so you could stick another 512 in there and get 1gig.

it might even be cheaper to trade in the vaio to sony and get an upgrade. (but put the old vid card back in it if you have it )

Meh, I'm getting by using a 1.5Ghz P4 and a Elsa Gladiac video card (GForce3 as the core). I haven't ran into any games that aren't compatible with my computer yet (Although I think I'll need to upgrade in order to play Doom 3 :().

I always seem to run out of USB ports; you can never have enough USB ports. I recommend getting an accessory that allows you to have more than two ports (I think two is the most common for most PC's).

Oh, and how is your sound? I'm an audio freak: I can't settle for anything less than an Audigy.

How much RAM does your video card have?

Your processor needs a boost, that might help.

If your video card has 64MB of RAM, get a 128MB version.

AMD pwns intel, if you could get like a 2.0 AMD altholon(sp?) that should be ok. What motherboard do you have, it might depend on that. Money provided I would go for a new motherboard (depends what you got) more ram and better proccessor.

I just got one of those Dual proc G5s and they kick some major butt. After getting sick of PC's slowing down and falling behind in technology I wanted something that had more to offer.. fastest stuff I've ever seen.

866MHz? You can overclock to 4.0GHz+, but that is pretty high. Your voltage might be too high for the mobo to handle, and your comp will break =) Im planning on oc'ing to 3.8GHz.

overclocking is not confusing. all you do is change one stat and add some cooling and bam more power.
