One question.

If the bug was on the glass lens, how does it appear right side up? If it was crawling on the glass, we'd be seeing the underbelly of it. Unless there's some odd multilayered glass upon which he was on the inside of. Which would make sense if the satellite was in space to take the photograph, otherwise he'd be dead and floating.
Answer.

No shadow = on the lens. You also have to take into account that half of the "Satellite" photos are taken from planes.

It's pretty clearly its back. You don't see the leg junction, which occupies the primary portion of the underbelly of the thorax in most insects, and definitely in these "elongated beetle" types.

But yeah, if the photo was taken through a window on a plane with a camera, it would explain it easily. What I was trying to say is that if the bug was crawling on the outside of the lens, the photograph would show the bottom of the bug. It would have to be on an additional transparent surface in front of the lens (such as the window of an airplane) in order for us to see it as such. I'm also a little curious about the circular dark spot behind the bug. Smudge on the glass, or something else?

Brandon. Note the last post on this thread before yours was in September? How far did you really have to dig through CC to find this thread, and necropost? Honestly.
