lol err nah... not at all. over 90% of a game of our football is played with your foot compared to your sport where you ¨Kick your ball to start, Kick after a TD, Kicked for field goals¨ or whatever and handle it for the rest,

then theres our sport. the only time the balls alowed to be handled AT ALL is on a throw in or the goalkeeper. that was the worst argument ive ever seen and ive had a few lol..

Ok, well here's a little clearer argument that can't be disputed. Who gives a **** how much feet are involved? A hamburger is a hamburger, but it's got beef in it. Wtf is up with that? Are all you "football" lovers going to start callin it a beefburger? I don't think so.

We've been calling it football for the entire time we've been playing it. We aren't about to change that because some foot fairies in Europe call their pansy sport the same thing.

woa geez steady on there boy, you guys were the ones arguing it should be called soccer in the first place.. weve been calling it football since weve been playing it too, which is a little longer.

me chattin straight, i dont honestly give a **** what you call your sport, you calling it football over there is fine, really. i never said you should change your sports name at all in this thread or ever, thats why im kinda ¨what the **** are you chattin about¨ when americans just randomly burst in conversations, trying to make us call our sport ¨Soccer¨ and argue it to death when we start laughing and arguing back. same goes for us, were not gonna stop calling it football just becuse somebody elsewhere decides to call their sport football, i dont understand the problem, i just find it ****en funny, i mean, were arguing about a ****en SPORT name..

you get me?

Plastic pads being called armor is just rediculous. Without them men would die constantly, and be brain dead after two years in the league.
Eh, you can't possibly make any less sense in any argument you ever do in your life.

So, it's not armour, but if doesn't protect you, you're dead. Bloody hell, that makes sense allright!

Plus they're american, they've been brain dead since they were born :third:

ham·burg·er /ˈhæmˌbɜrgər/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ham-bur-ger] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a sandwich consisting of a cooked patty of ground or chopped beef, usually in a roll or bun, variously garnished.
2. ground or chopped beef.
3. Also called Hamburg steak. a patty of ground or chopped beef, seasoned and fried or broiled.
If you find a land called Beefburg and bring their municipal sandwich to the world, then yeah, you might have a point. Please know a little more about world geography and overall culture before coming and speaking things out of your ass.

I love how you guys insist that soccer is the right word, and as what they're wearing is not armour. Sure, in your land it's called football, but unfortunately that means only 3 or 4% of the world's entire population calls it like that, rendering it as a true error of your and discarded as such.

No point arguing, simple logic, nothing beats it, kkthxbai.

I saw your 'discussion' and registered to stop you beating the textual crap out of one one another.

Please learn some history and all will be revealed.

Football means the games derived from English games played in the mids 1800's. There are many types of football, american football, irish (gaelic) football, association football, rugby football etc. All these games are played with footballs - thus the name.

Using the word football means the predominant form of the game in the users context. So if an American says football - they mean Amercian Football, an Australian will mean Australian Football. Most Europeans aren;t aware that their game is actually called Association Football and insist that it is called only 'football' to the detriment of all the other codes.

If you learn the history of the development of the games, rugby was one of the first form to actualy have some rules written, then Australian football and later Association Football. American Football was derived from Rugby football in the 1880's.

All those forms of football were very similar back then. All were rough and had lot's of contact. The original 1863 rules of Association Football allowed all players to catch the ball and take a free kick (a feature that still exists in Australian football).

Each of these games have evolved since then. Association Football eliinated the roughness and football handling, American football focussed on play strategies etc.

I recommend the Wikipedia article on the history of Football Football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All these games are football. If you are in an international forum like this, you need to explicitly define which form of football you are talking about.

Personally I like International Rules Football that is played between Ireland and Australia. It's probably closest to the type of football played 150 years ago.

t's called Football Association because of the universitie of, if I'm not mistaken, Cambridge, who created that association due to several differences in rules, but the entire world calls it football nevertheless.

Soccer, however, is the american name for the sport, the reason why it is soccer is because of that association, to differentiate from American Football. Now don't come and tell me that most Europeans don't know what their game is called.

Association Football is the american designation, shorter version, soccer. Simple.

But the rest of the world calls it Football.

it's call Association Football because the Rules were first recorded by the Football Asscociation in England in 1863. Many of the Cambrisge rules were incorporated.

FIFA administer Association Football. It's on their website. It's not a US only designation

Most of the English speaking countries don;t call the game Football. Association Football never really took off except in England and Europe (that's why the world body for was formed in France and now reside in Switzerland. Most other English speacking countries call it soccer to differentiate from the own forms of football.

I can agree with most arguements about how "manly" American Football is, but disagree about how "soft" and "fairie" sport 'soccer' can be.... lol that's just absurd calling 'soccer' a "soft" sport...

anyways, soccer only lakcs fanbase in U.S. because american players suck, and its not interesting to see soccer games played by ****ty players. Simple as that.

Hmm? Most? Name hem.

All arguing and eTestosterone aside, what do you guys call the ball? We obviously call it a soccerball.
Ball is another word for sphere, although it also means the object of a sport, but not always (what do you call it on Hockey, for example?).

We call it ball.
