You dont have all rights, but you can enlist in the army

Just find out today in school, on my govenrment and economy class, that if you have a visa in US you can enlist in the army. Who are you people kidding? Visa doesnt give you the rights of a full citizen, you cant vote, yet they want allow you to die for a country there you have no right to choose a leader. This is bullshit, i dont know what kind of idiot is gonna enlist. Say what you think?

Enlistment can almost garuntee citizenship, and there are many who would rather enlist than go through all the hassle of citizenship classes. Besides that, they can also earn bonus money in the military for multi-luguistics. It's true that you have to be in the military for a few years before you have citizenship rights, but they do earn citizenships by staying with it.

Wow, I'm not for this at all. I think it should be citizen, then soldier. After all....it's hard to defend a country you aren't even a citizen of. This just opens the doors for spies (like it's still the cold war, but hey, they do exist) and for terrorism within the army. I really dont' like this. Nice information, I didn't know that till now. It's not like it's flawless, but it is incredibly hard for a spy to slip in through this process. Enlistees have almost no intelligence available. Many who use this process use it for the gratuitees gained in multi-language skills. It's amazing how many people want to get their families to safety so badly that they'll use the ease of military bonuses to bring them over.

Its foolish for something like this to fly. Some U.S. residents (note that they aren't citizens) that died in Iraq got their citizenship as a reward for fighting. Be real, what the hell do you want that for when you are dead?

If you want to get your family to a better country that the shithole third world country your living in im sure youd do just about anything. if they dont want to do it they sure as hell arent being forced, but if they think its the best way to get into america then go for it. what i dont like is the "adult" age in america is really 21.... you have to be 21 to drink, 18 to smoke (thanks i edited ), 21 to gamble yet 17 and 18 year olds can enlist. They are old enoguh to fight and die, but not old enough to smoke drink or gamble?

i think the "adult" age should be 17. that or make it so you cant join the military till your 21.... i dont think anyone would want to weaken our military that much though.

Hmm, you consider, smking and dinking vs. joining the army discussion more important then people who die for the country they have no rights in? Your ignorance truly amases me.

It's really kind of funny. It makes you think how screwy are system really is. I mean, come on. Where is the logic in allowing non-citizens to be in the army? It seems like some kind of horrible breach in security.

What the **** is the big deal? Not like we're forcing these ppl into the army. Not like we're forcing them to kill to show their loyalty. Not like we're forcing them to die for a strange country. Joining the army is simply another way to get your citizenship.

The option is there is they want it. So tell me, how is giving them a choice a bad thing?

Well army forces you to be loyal to the country that army belongs to, so basically you brain wash them, give them guns, and allow them to fill up your ranks, and you happy with that, because you not gonna have to send your own people to die, you got those immigrants. I dont know whats wrong exactly, but ti doesnt feel right.

Know but they are gonna mug you after you leave the airport. this is not the topic, i am not saying that anyone should give immigrants the rights rigths away, i just say that they shouldn't give army as an option to gain those rights. Its like throwing away your heritage and any respect for the nation you come from.

ok lets think about it like this. You just managed to escape your third world country, you managed to get a visa. Now you are ****ed, no job, no money, no connection. What can you do?

Enlist in the military get money. job security, and a citzenship or beg on the streets.

I don't think I would be to insulted.

Now if it was a draft that would be diffrent.

Once again i repeat Russia is a 3rd world country, and i love my life. But i guess i am only gonna be insulted cause i take pride in being a Russian. Some North Koreans, might think otherwise.
