In my opinion, alpha had better gameplay. Alpha had creeps that were regularily spawned and it had NO bugs. It never crashed a single time for me. I was amazed at the stability of it, but the beta just seemed to make it worse.

(BTW, the only real differences between the two is the alpha had worse graphics)
