I think it is just simply all the hacking, and third party programs that is causing the lag, yes of course battle.net isn't helping the problem, but i do no think they are adding to it.

Here, plain and simple.

The lag you experience is caused by the following:

#1: Hackers
#2: Ith Items ( made by hackers )
#3: B.net trying to fix problems with the server

As someone has already stated, Battle.net is a free service. If we were to pay for it, #1 half as many people would play, but the upside woudl be a better server. That's why EQ is a good game to play, its just a bitch having to pay a monthly fee... that's one not many people do play it.

All in all, dont pay anything for a moderate server, or go pay at least 12 bucks a month for a better server, which may i add, still lags from time to time

i have 1 ghz athlon, 128mb ram, dsl connection...it never lagged like this when i was playing LAST YEAR...

man , the lag is from bad dialup connection , realm down is from banning your ip address, and waiting line is maintenance.failing to join is fine but why wtf dcan i not join games my friend makes?
it says game does not exist, i get so pissed i want to go pop somebody, so i go put some belts near the entrance to a pk rougue camp.

#1. Hackers aren't causing the lag. If they are, please do explain. In depth, if possible. If you hadn't noticed, ITHS have always been the same stats-wise. All the hackers have to do is change one little line of code in the item's hex code. Bam. New items with same boring stats.

#2. Botters are causing the lag. People do 14-15 second games and do a good 1000+ at a time. Now, tack on about 6000 more people and you've got 6,000,0000 going at a time, etc. etc.

#3. Battle.net is free. Why do you complain? If you can provide a free service like the one battle.net has given, then please, take your Multi-Headed OC3's with UU-Net as a backbone and please, HOST! Tell me where to sign up. Unless you run B.Net and are one of the (lol) 2 people on the crew to fix up the patch, don't complain. Sit there, bang your head on the keyboard in agony because your life is draining away from a game that probably made you break up with your girlfriend, kicked off the sports team and gave you a great 2.0 GPA.
