dP you should really look at some of the other threads before you post your own. There were other threads about 4/20, and it explained the origins in at least 2 of them. Maybe you should have looked in The Asylum as well, because there were a couple threads about it in there as well.

4:20 am (i think its AM id have to check) was when Bob Nesta Marley died from cancer on May 11, 1981. Then fans made 4/20 (the date) as their day to smoke and reveal themselves for Bob. Which makes no sense to me. I dont see why they didnt have it on 5/11....

In the 70's when there were a crap load of hippies, cops used to use the say "420" in the radio things. That was their sign of telling headquaters they caught someone with marajuana and they need backup. Some kids supposedly intercepted that messege alot and to show the cops they cant do anything about smoking, they smoke, on that day and on that time.

A friend of mine believes the 'longbottom leaf' they smoke in the movie and the books is actually pot.

Lots of smokers in this little town of mine. Even my sister. There aren't any police in this town, so no one stops them. Well, there's this one guy who likes to park his police car in front of his house, but we don't count him as an actual policeman.
