WASD or teh arrow keys?

all my life ive been using arrow keys for video games, despite all my friends using WASD. now that ive finally gotten my hands on doom 3, i realized that its necessary to use WASD despite not beign able to use it well. it may have something to do with me being left handed, but its probably just me being used to arrow keys after all these years.

so what do you guys use for games? WASD or arrow keys?

i use the arrow keys... my best freind uses wasd.. but i cant do that. i usually have ctr jump and duck shift. anything close. im right hander, but ive always liked using my right hand to shoot and left hand to keyboard.. do you use the mouse with your left hand?

I prefer WASD, it's father from your other hand therefore easier. At least to me.

wasd with spacebar jumping and the mouseball ducking.

WASD because you have your thumb and little finger for Ctrl and Space.

Also, it feels less cramped with the mouse further away from you.

Also, if any games require function keys or numbers you are much better off with WASD.

I use arrow keys because that is what i have always used and it is what im used to. I can easaly use all of the keys around it for extra funtions, and if worst comes to worst, ill save up for a mouse that has like a billion buttons,lol.... Ive tried using wasd, but it just isnt confortable.... i guess if i REALLY REALLY had to, i could learn to live with it.

AHAHA FREAK!!!11 j/k Well that just told us your problem. WASD is better for most games like Halo and CS. You hands would be too far with the arrow keys to get the more important game buttons.

I used to use the arrow keys untill i started playing CS. WSAD for cs but for like flash games its arrow keys.

I can do either, so I don't really have a preference. I guess it's just what feels more comfortable for a particular game.

The arrow keys are so much better. They don't have keys surrounding them. Also, I am right handed and my arrow keys are on the right side of the keyboard. So it is much easier.

WASD. That way I have easier access to my control buttons, shift, space, etc.

But actually, gaming was originally supposed to be based on ESDF Because it's easier to find in the dark. I use that on some games.

The keys W, A, S, D; used in some games. Seems more comfortable for some.

The only person I know who uses the arrow keys is my friend who is a left hander.

I prefer WASD by far.

That makes no sense to me. If he is left handed his left hand would be ont he right of the keyboard, and his other hand would be on the left side. Is his keyboard different? It would be hard to play when your hands are criss-crossed.

Playing with my right hand on the arrows, my left hand can do all the space, chift, ctrl, or whatever you do to play the game. I don't play many games that use arrow keys anyways.

Couldn't you just move your mouse to the left side of your keyboard?

I think that's what he means, so it would be like using WASD for a right hander.
