Girl Talk's shit is free because of the nature of his music... if he charged money for his albums he'd be sued by the artists he samples from.

Well it's not exactly "free" since it's pay what you want.

I guess most of the artists don't care. So many are sampling music without permission, not many artists seem to care.

The point is that "pay what you want" is basically donating to the artist, which isn't the same thing as selling music.

The point is that "pay what you want" is basically donating to the artist, which isn't the same thing as selling music.

Well the "donation" is for higher quality version or a packaged CD, and it says "buy" which pretty much kills the idea that the money is only a donation to the artist. So it doesn't matter if you call it "donation" it's the same thing, they're selling the album.
