Act mature in AS at least.. don't turn AS into Asylum the Second..

and personally, I think we as humans already have enough problems to handle with in our own little planet.

wow, well this thread was maybe going somewhere.....

I feel like the universe amazing. Every little thing about it amazes me!
I have to agree with souless here, there is a HUDGE possibility there is life somewhere out there. Our earth is the product of elements working in harmony. These elements are everywhere. How is it not possible that somewhere else in the infinite universe, elements are not working together on some other planet? maybe there are a dozen planets that are the perfect distance from the sun and just like our earth. maybe planets where different elements have created something completely alien we will never know of!

I think science is solid. Maybe there could be something deeper in humans. Maybe something like a soul, but its just seems silly to think there is some big man who knows all and keeps tabs on us all like his little ant farm. Oh! but if you are a good little ant, when your body expires you will get to go to little ant heaven! Yup, its going to be summer all year and there will never be a shortage of picnic baskets. Be a bad little ant, and you will be doomed to eternal pain and suffering. Who wants to believe in that!?

Im not going to pretend I have any concept of time travel but what I saw in donnie darko.

tbs, you're talking of the Universe as if it was some scifi thing that we'll never know about.

I mean, do you want a philosophical discussion of the Universe? You want mere facts? What's the objective of this thread?

How does it not make it retarded? I'm a well known aetheist, but I don't bash on religions ever for the most part. But the fact that it's in Christianity docterine that we are the only beings in existence is one of the most ignorant statements, ever.
No, it is not in 'Christianity doctrine*' that we are the only existing life in the universe. According to the bible, we are simply the dominant life on earth, and everything on it was created for our use.

However, to rebuke Renzokuken, that's not what makes Christianity retarded. It's the countless contradictions of the bible that make it retarded. Any literature that was created by a council as a simple means to help warm the surge of a growing religion in their nation isn't life altering existentialism, it's idiocy. The only 'intelligent design' was Constantine bringing his nation together.

So thats what pisses you off? Really? They also believe that a magical invisible man created us humans, that no matter what we do our path is predetermined by that invisible man and that the first woman actually came out of the first man. Meh, religion had its uses in the past centuries it was a good way to keep the stupids (aka the uneducated masses) from getting any bright ideas about revolting against their tyrannical monarchs and the church, religion is an instrument that for most part of the human history was used as a perfect explanation for why tyrannical hierarchies should exist. Now its...I don't even know, I guess even with the free flow of information and much better education majority of the population are still those same old stupids that crave having an excuse to never use their brain and like to believe that they have no free will.
What a block of stupid. As to your claim of Christians thinking, 'no matter what we do out path is predetermined,' Hi, welcome to the 70% of Christians that are NOT Calvanists.

The large, large majority of 'tyrannical hierarchies' did not use religion as an excuse, in fact the large majority of them have combated with the religious establishment for complete power over said nation.

The majority of the population are not 'those same old stupids.' If someone is brought up a certain way, told the same things for years read the same book through their entire childhood, it's very natural to want to attain their belief system. I believe there are only three dimensions of space, the traditional three dimensions. If you were to tell me there was a fourth and give me all of your arguments as to why, I still wouldn't want to believe you. If you don't believe there is a God, or that Jesus existed or did the things he did, although the natural laws of physics give you a stronger case against Jesus, you believing he does not exist is based on your personal faith, whereas Christians have faith that he did do the things he supposedly did. We have no concrete evidence as to either.

Religion is good, it gives the large populace an excuse to have stronger morals. I would much rather have other people thinking that killing me would damn them to eternal hellfire, and the only deterrence not simply being, 'it's not good to kill people.'

1) As a christian, I believe we are the only life forms that exist. On the other hand -- whos to say God did not create other things?
who the hell taught u that. a bishop at an annual vatican meeting brought up the question of how to react and what to do if aliens exist.

macman, idk if ur trying to be a sarcastic smartass, but wormholes ARE thought to exist, just for fractions of seconds

and "dark matter" ..are u referring to anti matter or negative energy. though similar, negative energy is thought to only exist on the edges of a black hole

But what of the killings that occur in the name of god?
There are plenty of people who think sending you to hell would be holly and would ensure their spot in heaven.

We have free will. So our paths are not pre-determined.

No. It's in some denominational doctrine. Not all Christians believe that we're the only life-forms around.

I agree with mike. Well to me I can't bielive anything without back up proof. As for space travel? Well we had alerady recreated the big bang on a small scale and have developed anti-matter which one drop can new york city for a week or a month. Can't remember. But we already discovered life forms on other planets. Micro organisms. And from and personel expirence I've seen a ufo pretty close up when I was a kid in mississippi. Unless it was some damn gov project. Life is nothing but mysterious and we humans are naturally afriad of the unknown. Religon to me is more of a guideline to live a happy properous life. Thats all. If you ever did research of the past of christanity you'd actually see it was just used to control the dumb population. Everything was ripped off from something else.

We already have people living in space atm. It's going to happen. We will destroy this planet. Unless we get our **** together but we can't because we are to busy being greedy and selfish. Space is open to endless possiblitys. Just no heaven.
