thats not all u need... u need a good motherboard to support ur fast processor.. also... compatibility... like if your going with a AMD processor.. u would need to go with a ati gfx card... b/c ati was more built for amd 64 bit processing... intel is more for nvida... also another thing that make or breaks a fast gaming comp is software.. if ur software doesnt flow with ur hardware... ur comp will not be good... i suggest buying a comp from www.alienware.com ... they have the best software engineers on this planet right now... no lie... there comps run faster than ANY comp u could ever build

for storage... get 2 10k RPM 72 gig raptors and set them in a raid-0 config (SATA Drives of course)

processor: AMD 64
GFX CARD: WAIT!!! omg wait... if you wait half a year when PCi-express comes out you'll get a LOT better graphics card for your money. especially since they up'd the architecture to like 16 gb transfer both ways (me thinks).

mobo... same thing, wait for pci-express

and yes, definately run compatable software!

well this is my comp and it works wonders for gaming

-Athlon 2700 motherboard with 2700ghz processor.
-2 sticks of 512mb DDR
-Radeon 9800pro
-120 and a 40 gb hard drive
-and windows 2000
-and soon I'll be getting a 19" flat computer screen.
-i use AVG for VIruses, SpyBot search and Destroy to get rid of spyware, and ZoneAlarm Firewall.

all combined this makes me a sweetass gaming comp

Has anyone noticed on some websites, I don't know if it's on all of them or not, that there are amd 64 processors with like 1600 bus speeds, and the best motherboard on the site only suppports like 800? It's so dumb, they make bundles of motherboards and CPUs and RAM (one that I saw anyway) and the motherboard doesn't even allow the RAM and CPU to operate to their full potential.

You save quite a bit if you know where to shop around.

well it depends on wut ur gonna use the comp for... if ur build a comp for like work or just the internet or something then ya it would be cheaper... but if ur build a hardcore gaming comp... then it would be best to go with professional... b/c they offer u stuff that u can get anywhere else...

the best thing about my comp tho is that i put it all together myself so its got all the stuff in it that i wanted.
but getting all the stuff u want dont mean its all compatible with each other... i guarantee that the cheapest aleinware comp will out preform ur comp... no problem
