So I got braces put on yesterday...

They hurt like bloody ****ing hell. I spent most of my day today half conscious on the couch in front of the TV.

On another unrelated note, while making this post I noticed the facepalm smiley. Such win. :doh

All I have are the bracket thingies on the fronts of my teeth, the wires that go through the whole set, and these damn things called "bite ramps" that prevent me from biting down all the way and messing up my lower brackets with my overbite.

****ing bite ramps. Designed by the devil himself. Now when I close my mouth, my molars don't meet so I can hardly chew, not to mention that the tips of my bottom incisors are really sensitive and it hurts like hell when they hit the biteramps...feels like biting into ice cream.

Oh, and the two teeth I had pulled beginning of last month to make room for the braces to work weren't fun either.

I had my braces for four and a half years, take good care of em', I was only supposed to have em' for six months.

I'm sure you've seen them in the pics I've posted. Really, they're not HORRIBLE, but they're a bit out there. My bottom row of teeth isn't bad at all, mostly just a liiiittle bit out of perfect straight order...hardly something to complain about.

The TOP row is a bit messed up. First off, I have an overbite that darn near overlaps my lower teeth so that closing my jaw comfortably to make my molars meet makes my top front teeth rest evenly in front of my lower ones. In addition, the incisors are a bit angled inwards towards my mouth a little bit, but the most noticable thing is my canines; they're kinda stuck out a little further than the rest of my teeth, which has led LOTS of people to make "vampire" comments.

Here's an older pic a lot of people have probably seen, shows the top row fairly well...

QFT ...i couldn't ****ing close my mouth for a week, so i just drooled all over everything, had mine for years....underbite like a sonofabitch....the worst thing in the world is this plaster mold thing i had to wear after i got the braces off...everytime i went to chew i would bite down on it and my teeth got so sore that i shoved a whole 8 ball into my mouth

I know, I always kinda liked them...but the problems with teeth in our family always cause serious problems later in life. My teeth are fairly crowded, which is why I got two pulled to make room. The two that got ganked are the ones on the top row directly behind my canines.

Yeah I know, but really we haven't been able to afford it before. When once it would have been a tight squeeze to shell out 6000 bucks for them, now it's really not as big a deal. I'll have them off by the time I finish college, and it's better late than never...so really I have no problem with actually having braces...just the infernal pain.

Oh, good news though. About that pain...my mother is a genius. She's been having me take these cherry cough drops, which numb my mouth just enough to where it really doesn't hurt much.

Lol. Actually, they're really not that obtrusive...I got the ceramic brackets in the "bone" color. They really don't show that tremendously much. I'll take a pic and post it one of these days...maybe this weekend.
