I've never experienced it. I guess I'm lucky because it sounds a bit scary.

No, but the first thing that came to my mind is what Bret posted up! I think it has to do with REM sleep...Your mind is very active however, your skeletal muscles are paralyzed!! It must feel very weird!

LOL...**** you mike?

I can sort of induce this in myself. I dunno, what happens to me is a little different, or maybe it's just how I experience this...

Generally when I'm laying around idle, I get a sort of tingling feeling, sort of like when you foot falls asleep only all over and more mild, less painful. I get to where I try to move my limbs, and I know I could if I wanted to, but it seems like something is blocking me from doing it. It's not a feeling of anything holding me, but something keeping my limbs from obeying me. My limbs actually strain, I can feel the muscles tensing, but nothing happens as far as actual movement goes. Eventually I can break down the block and get up, but it's always a struggle to release myself.

As I said before, I can also sort of trick myself into this state so that it happens by my own will.

Also, don't laugh so much at Isaac's "lol the Japanese are afraid of Samara" thing...the Grudge was based on the actual "bogeyman" icon in Japanese culture. My dad was stationed in Japan for quite some time when he was in the Navy, and from what he's told me Japanese people are generally pretty ok, but when it comes to "bad spirits" ideals, you just don't talk about it. People will just shut down on you, and nobody will go near a house that's said to be haunted. Frankly, I can't blame them. Even if most ghost stories are a bunch of crap, there are still ones that aren't, and there's some messed up shit out there that you don't want to fool with, and that it's better to just steer clear of whether you believe in that sorta thing or not. Example: even though I'd imagine it's just an urban legend, there's no way I'd ever do the "Bloody Mary in front of a mirror" thing. Ever. Some things you just leave alone.

Yeah, a lot of people have done it, but I never will. That's the sorta shit that creeps me out. Give me a choice between dealing with a psycho with a knife or a freaky supernatural entity bent on vengeance against all living things, and I'll take the human. At least humans can be killed, even though they always come back in the movies. It's the stuff that takes bullet after bullet without giving a shit, or whose decapitated head laughs at you from the floor as the body rips you apart that freaks me out.

It's why real life really doesn't scare me much, but Wes Craven movies get my goat.

ok honestly....

1) bloody mary doesn't work...i did that shit in 4th grade

2) yes, a lot of asian countries and cultures have supernatural occurrences as part of the popular folklore, but that doesn't make them real.. I still think the Japanese are much more afraid of a North Korean nuclear attack than the goddamn anorexic-ass ghost from the grudge.

3) ghosts arent real. neither are movies.

Sleep paralysis sucks, although what you described..some-what sounds like the beginning of astral projection...atleast the shaking/vibration part.

I guess the best way to sum it up for me in the simplest way possible is to describe it as feeling like my body is just on total lockdown...damn those Ghosts, I'm not even robotic!

that makes me feel more comfortable about it :-/

update: surprise it happened again, and it was witnessed! my mother walked into my room, after i went to bed to inform me that i never got around to throwing the trash out....and i was laying on the edge of my bed, with my arms at my side, and my eyes were open but where shaking violently...

...i remember vividly what happened. I turned off the light, and flicked on the tube, shortly thereafter i was out, and it must have been seconds later she walked in. Now when she walked in it just made things worse, cause all i could make out of her was a black very windy type of shadowy silhouette...that makes no sense i know, but the noise i heard was the worst thing...the best thing i can use to describe it is in one of the newer star wars episodes. When the bounty hunter guy is with his kid in his spacecraft, trying to outrun the jedi in the asteriod ring....he lets off these bombs and when they explode they make a weird sound....THATS IT but like 200 times faster and louder

now she thinks i heard her before she came in, but was just ****ing with her, bitch....but neways if this keeps happening im never sleeping again
