Doesn't work on undead though...damn I shouldn't of shared this, it's so cheap...ya'll should thank me if you didn't know it/do it right.:D

Yeah but that may be just a useless building when you could be building better stuff.

Well, people do use shades! Not to keep people from expanding (what do you mean it doesn't work against undead, I find it ONLY works against them...), but simply to track enemy units.

You can't plant a shade to stop a haunted gold mine..it builds ON the gold mine...and as for PlaceBo...that's not the entire tactic...it's just something to screw with you're enemies minds.

Hmm, I didn't think a haunted gold mine needed any space to build, you could be right swooper, I was just going by my asumption.

The great thing is it wouldn't work against me,
Reasons:
1) i play undead
2)i plant like 4 shades all around the map so you wouldn't even get a chance.

Things with shades, you could easily use one of those orc things that detect invisible things too. I never get them though. Truely, no one seems to counter invisible units because they arn't a big part of the game, but the shade is the best unit ever.!!!

Pan, "most" undead players are strongly affected by cloaked units. I've yet to have my BladeMaster stopped before he gets to the goldmining acolytes. And I'm sure that you don't plant shades in you're own base, because most people think it to be a waste.

First off, i have 3 shades, one in my base and two over the map.

Also i have spirit towers all aro'und my base, so when he attacks, take a 90 gold acolyte, while you get your hero killed.

Here's a cool trick: Get abou 8-10 shades, and surround the enemies hero with it. They wont be able to move, and they most likely wont have detection. It's expecially good if the enemy is away from his base and he has no tp, it leaves him vulnerable. I've only done this once, and I was just messing around so I didnt have any men. It would work good if you execute it properly though

Sadly, you can walk through shades...

I usually have a gem anyway, but only on my second hero.

Shades aren't exactly the eye-boggling revelation of the world, but they are invaluable. Just remember to sacrifice it with Death Pact when you get sick of them.

They only cost 90 gold, you can have them scouting the enitre map, and the block units. they dont give themselves away, AND ALMOST EVERYONE FORGETS TO BLOCK THEM.

No, they just move into it and move aside like it was an object in the way. Do the first undead campaign and try moving it in the way of a patrol. Now you can see.

Even though Shades are invisible, you should feel weird moving through a shade. Since a Shade has life, it should hurt it if it happened, right?
