oooohh, i remember this now.

Way back in .02 i think, there used to be a hack where you could give someone a bugged item, and it would actually have control from their side, and literally hack your computer from your d2 game, so best option, pick it up, and IMMEDIATELY LEAVE! ALT +F4!

I'm guessing the dangerously modified it to work for 1.1
So this is something rather old then, but with a new twist. I wasn't aware of that at all, since that was before I started playing (.09) online. Anyways I guess it's back. Careful all.

Dude, the first D2 comercial version released was 1.03... wasn't it? My original D2 CDs have ver .03 on them...

Anyways there is no possible way that could happen, Emo is just screwing with you. First of all to get a bugged item into BNet at all would be a formidible task, especially through warden. Now theoretically you could create an item that would make the game crash, however when you pick up said item, or hover your mouse over it, YOUR game would crash. Then there's the fact that you can't "bug" an item to make you drop all of your other items. There is actually no possible way AT ALL for that to happen. The only possible explanation is a downloaded trojan or drophack, and the item was either made up by the kid, or was a cover by the scammer so he wouldn't be reported for using a drophack/trojan. I suppose maybe you could have the person load a program to excecute when the packets are received from picking up a specific item, but that would still require a download or trojan.

Hmm, this has all the trade mark signs of a friend of mine. I'll look into it and see if he's lying about being "Retired".

Damnit, half of you say it can be possible, half say not!

In any case, I made this thread as a warning to all who play USEast Ladder, to watch out for this. Also to not fall for it.

I've seen my friend do some pretty scary things on Diablo II. I wouldn't put it past him to do this.

Again, he claims to be retired. But this wouldn't be the first time he's ever lied to me. If you see anything else unusual, you let me know. You hear?
