I'd just like to add, that my brothers brought this **** over for three days, and after like two hours of sitting at it, I could play most of the drum songs on expert. Including the likes of DOA and Tom Sawyer.

Like I said way back when, if you're a drummer of any decent skill, it's moderatly easy. The hardest thing I experienced was that itwasnt a complete matchup for the foot pedal, so I'd constantly drum out the actual beat, but it was different on the game so i'd get them wrong.

I love rock band and can't wait for RB2 in september.

My GT is OMGWTFJohnny, I'd love to play with some people I know once in awhile. I play expert on all instruments, but can't do all songs on guitar/drums. Just all the vocals, which are pretty easy when you sing as ****ty as I do.

According to IGN those with rock band 2 will be able to download all of Rock band 1's songs free of charge, and the DLC downloaded for RB1 will transfer right over to RB2. I think that that will turn the tides if it is true.

At the very least it would make people not have to switch disks for rb1 songs/dlc. But people that aren't sure if they want RB2 after not playing RB1 would likely be swayed by getting an extra 58 songs free for download. It would effectively kill all RB1 sales, assuming people would still buy it anyways.

naw if that was the case it would mean that RB1 is not being produced anymore.

Rock Band 2 getting cymbal-ized - Xbox 360 News at GameSpot

The term "battle of the bands" has come to epitomize the competitive one-upmanship of Activision's Guitar Hero series and MTV Games' Rock Band franchise. While the first Harmonix-developed rhythm game under the MTV Games label won superior critical approbation thanks to the addition of drums and a karaoke element, the Guitar Hero brand name and a lower price point pushed the Neversoft-made Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock to the top of the billboard sales charts.

This year, the two franchises are again crossing axes with Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2, and the musical arms race is heating up. Earlier this year, Activision hit its first power chord, announcing it would hop on the musical quartet wagon, adding in a five-pad (plus kick pedal) drum kit and a karaoke mic, among other substantially new features.

Today, MTV Games and Harmonix have struck back. As revealed in the latest Game Informer, the new drum kit will have more than just squishy, velocity-sensitive pads. While the standard-issue new drum kit will retain the four-pad setup of its predecessor, drumming enthusiasts will be able to purchase an additional cymbal pack. The pack includes crash, ride, and high-hat add-ons that can be plugged into the new kit and will be associated with existing colors. Because the cymbal pack will plug into expansion slots, Rock Band's original drum set will remain compatible with the game's follow-up.

For those counting, that adds up to a possible eight drum inputs, two more than World Tour and topping even the kit in Konami's Rock Revolution. Konami has taken actions of its own to counter MTV Games and Harmonix's move into the rhythm game space, claiming patent infringement and filing suit against Harmonix in a Texas court this week.

In addition to the new cymbal pack, GI reports that Harmonix and MTV Games have commissioned limited-edition instruments from Fender and Ion that will be made compatible with their rhythm game. From Fender, real Stratocasters will reportedly be stripped and then outfitted with game-input parts. The special edition Ion drum kit will feature four pads, three cymbals, and a kick pedal and will double as a fully functional electronic drum kit. Pricing information for the limited-edition bundles was not revealed.

Rock Band 2 is expected to be released this September on the Xbox 360 and will roll to other, as-yet-unannounced platforms later this year.

Rock band 2's setlist. It's reported that there will be an additional 20 songs for free to download that weren't ready in time for the disk. They should be available at launch. In addition all the rock band 1 songs are supposed to transfer over.

**** me I need to get a harddrive...

Also, Go Your Own Way is the most epic song of all time and I can't wait to poorly sing it. This will be the first game to have an AC/DC track, and I can't wait to play the same 3 chords the whole song. :hxc

edit:
- Disc Export Feature gives owners of the original Rock Band the ability to export most of the Rock Band disc tracks and upgrade them into Rock Band 2 gameplay--the first time ever in videogame history!
I guess they aren't free to download per say, if you have the game they can just transfer over (probably going to be in the 4gb range. :(). The word most in there scares me a bit though, I hope it just means that the abortion of a song that is Train Kept a Rollin' would be left out.

I pretty much like that entire list. There are some I dislike, but yeah. Dinosaur Jr, hell yes. I like 98% of the list.

Rockband 2 came out today, bought it at 10, have probably played it for about 12 hours. It is seriously one of the best games I've ever played. Any problem you could possibly think of that stopped you from liking rb1 has been at the very least addressed, and for the most part, completely improved upon. 99% of the songs in the 84 song setlist are amazingly fun (Visions by abnormality being the only exception because of it's drums). Online band world tour and the challenges are incredibly addicting.

For 5 dollars and a copy of rb1 (can be rented) you can get 55 songs automatically for Rb2, and with the addition of 20 more free songs after launch, it has an amazingly diverse setlist. I bought the game today and I have over 200 songs for it. Pretty fucking incredible.
