Then you can obviously see what each player is getting what and easily make adjustments to your strategy. Either that or you flood the whole area with sentinels.

I noticed everyone mentiond POTM + Archer. Yet POTM give bonus to hunts also. and since it is percnet based, hunts will get a larger bonus than archers simply because thier base damage is higher. IN Ne mirror, Archer+ hunts + balista are better than anything. In anyother matchup, POTM is not worthwhile.

And you never base your hero on the ultimate, because you always assume you are going to win before hand. 90% of gmaes you don't even need the ultiamte.

Ultimates are there for support to help you win, don't rely too heavily on them. Also, for channelers, don't cast near something that can break the channel. Like a raider or a stun type hero.

ultimates on intel heroes shouldn't be relied on, most of everything else changes the outcome of the battle

Its mostly because int heroes have the mana to recover it and also thier basic spells practically are thier strength.
