I have had almost the exact same diatrap with this same teacher before so some of you might rember it.

Anyway here is the senario We are in class the tardy bell has just rang this guy I was talking to stands up to get back to his desk and his necklace broke on the edge of my desk. So as he had to go back to his seat (my chemistry teacher is a super bitch) so I was like ahh I will fix it for you. So I am sitting at my desk putting this necklace back together and she told me to stand for the pledge

Teacher: "You need to Stand for the Pledge Mynamehere"

Me:"I am fixing this necklace"

Teacher: "Well stop and stand for the pledge"

Me: "nah I am good I think I will sit"

Teacher: "Stand up now"

Me: "How bout I don't"

Teacher: "Well I am going to write you up"

Me: "Go for it see how long it takes me to go to the ACLU and get you fired."

Teacher: "Well you need to move out of the country if you wont stand for the pledge"

Me: "Sorry I am in Highschool I live with my parents that isnt an option."

Teacher shuts up and acts pissed the rest of the class.

The problem with people like that is sometimes they give you lower grades for spite. Is a good point though, you shouldn't have to stand for the pledge of allegance. Besides is funny to rile them up isn't it.

If I get a low grade I will have her fired. Doesnt seem like it would be that hard to prove I was getting fake grades I have high benchmark grades and if I started getting low test grades I believe it would be supicous.

She can't change my benchmark grades those are graded by the district.

if you dont want to stand up with the pledge they cant force you, if they try it makes they look retarded. our school just stopped doing the pledge, and i think its fine that way. if we did do the pledge i would stand and say it, but not if i was doing something else at the moment like you and your necklace.

My teacher tried to suspend me for not standing up for the pledge.I went up to the office, got a suspension went home.My mom called the school board bitched at them a little, got the teacher on paid leave. And I was back to school the next day!I got a free vacation.Never her saw her until after that semester.
But that's bull shit. They can't make you stand up for that. And you don't even have to say it.I forget where I heard it but a ton of people at our school dont say the god part. And hardly anyone says it in the first place.

Though I think you should say the pledge, as it is a part of this countrys heritage and you should take pride in it, they cant really force you. Even though it would be considered insubordination, I dont think saying the pledge is a mandatory procedure.

Meh...

schools have been sued and teachers have been fired for trying to force a student to stand up, one of the few libertys we have as students is to not have to pledge an allegiance to a country we do not like.

i never would of had a problem standing for pledge if it wouldn't of been for god part. I bealive in my country even if it is in a shat state, but i'm not gonna say i put my trust in some false thing even if it is just for pledge, they stoped having us do that in 6th grade when alot of us wouldn't do it and they didn't want to press the issue

heh today in class she made comments about it every chance she got about how rude people who didnt respect the country where.

I told her that her trying to make me stand was more disrepectful to this country than myself choosing not to stand, she didn't think I was correct.

i think its pretty childish to not want to say "under god" even if you dont believe. i dont believe in any god, but i love my country and those words arent going to kill me. when im at a freinds house and they pray before they eat ill put my hands togeather. they know i dont believe in god, but im not going to be disrespectful to them or anything. i could see if you HATED america and didnt want to say the pledge, but because of the god phrase is really immature.

if you dont believe you should be MORE ACCEPTING TO RELIGION.

i can see if your a religion in which it is a sin to talk about another god, but it can mean ANY GOD. if you believe in a god, then "under god" is meant for your god. if you dont believe in god WTF DOES IT MATTER?!?!?

Can some one quote me the pledge, please?

I personally don't like to say something official with the word god on it. It's like that old story of saying allah, budha, shiva and other craps as well.

I fill the same way, I will pretend to pray with my parents and family to show respect for them though they know I am not a christian.

The under god thing is not why I refuse to say it, but I see the adding "under god" as mcarthy did in the 50's is just as childish.

yah that is some bullshit you got going on their forged, and i completly see the logic in your argument, but for the teacher to accept it would just make her look even dumber, first she can't command her class, second her students show her up on something simple. She'd have to kill herself after that shit.

not saying the pledge because of the under god part is childish?
so i'm suppose to lie while i'm pledging allegience to my country?
i'm sorry but i feel lying like that is far worse then making a few other people happy
