NIRVANA: 10 years later

[Pains Requiem]

10 years today Kurt Cobain wrote a suicide note and put a shotgun under his chin and pulled the trigger. This i read recently and i have had the knowledge of him over-doseing on a drug. No matter how Kurt died, he will remain one of the greatest rock artist in history. Growing up in a broken home, kurt joined up with his bassist and his drummer (now the lead singer of Foo Fighters) and began their short yet extrodinary career.
Now, for disucssion, who all here likes nirvana and what was your favorite song/cd/video? Was/is Nirvana one of your favorite bands? They are one of mine. Nirvana had some of the coolest songs ever, aided by Kurt's awesome murderous screams in his song and his lyrics that he wrote when alone. I personally beleive that Nirvana would've out-done the Great Metallica if the band was still around. but as we all know, kurt nor Nirvana is in existence. Post here t pay your respects to Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic.

Finally, I can't stand everyone always talking about them. I like 1-2 songs by them and it seems to many people like them because the singer had problems and fealt like pulling an unintentional publicity stunt by killing himself.

I like lounge act. I don't really see many videos but I try to download them. I don't have a particular favourite CD though. Nirvana was a stepping stone for other artists.

They were a great band, and yes, a lot of people talk about them. i posted this thread for the people who ARE Nirvana fans and would liek to express their feelings about the band and the legendary Kurt Cobain. like em or not, still post ur thoughts. yes i also thought a lot of their songs sound the same, but some of them are really different from the ones you hear on the radio. they are A fave band, not my No.1 fave, i just think they're pretty cool. im NOT lookin for a sympathy thread, just a open discussion, but please, try not to insult the band.

I've always like Nirvana ever since I've first heard them. I felt a connection to almost every song I've heard from them. Well anyway, my favorite song is probably Dumb or Sliver.

Everyone loved them AFTER Kobain died. Don't pull an "OMG I LOVED THEM THE WHOLE TIME YOU NUB" because I won't listen. It's been proven over and over, that they record sales increased dramatically AFTER Kobains death.

95% of the songs they have are the EXACT SAME. Grunge rock is also crap, because it's a more "rock" form of Emo.

There were quite a few of them. Nirvana wasn't origonal they were just one of the few grunge bands along with pearl jam to get famous.

I personally think pearl jam is way beter than nirvana but to each his own.

Art costs a lot more when the artist is dead. I liked come as you are before I even knew the artist. Lots of genius's don't get reconised until after their deaths.

Stop making up bullshit, 95% my ass. Nirvana's songs were pretty different, especially compared to some bands today. Nirvana arn't over rated at all. Have you heard shit bands like BEP live? They suck! Nirvana is much better.

Wierd Al just thrives of critising other peoples songs. He never got his own ideas so Nirvana > Wierd Al is more correct. Nirvana was very down to earth, they were very modest people. They just said what song they were singing and the album it came from and they ****ing sang it, non of that publicity stunt bullshit in todays singers and bands.
