Eh.. those dont have the best airflow, ya know. I would go with this if i was you:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=864720&Sku=MTX-PUR-600

You can get that in blue for $70 if u signed up for their email.
It is by far the best or one of the best cases i have ever seen, even for that beautiful price. And believe it or not, a good power supply makes a HUGE difference, and this is by far one of the best ive seen.

So sign up for their email and get that one off of them.. (If i sent u the link, it wouldnt work)

nice setup so far, but what sorta monitor you going to use ? (I know my Hercules radeon 9800 pro supports 2 monitors)...and what sorta speakers are you going to attach to your audigy card?

(and I have to agree with the others in this thread, don't bother buying windows xp...there are...other...ways you can go about getting it...but if you must...at least go look for a version thats already patched with service pack 2...they should be out in stores pretty soon)

...and you might want to consider a case with removeable trays (makes life much easier)

Get that case above,

Your CPU looks fine by me

As for the mobo, looks good enough, depends if you are going to overclock.

RAM looks good

You can softmod that Radeon 9800Pro into a 9800XT without harming anything if it is a 360 core

It already has onboard audio, so you dont need a sound card.

Dont you already have a floppy drive you can use?

Hard Drive you can buy a 160GB for $50, sometimes Outpost.com has that deal.. But I think youll be fine with that HDD as well..

The CD-RW/DVD looks fine to me.

As for the OS, get Win XP OEM for $50 at Link Removed because AxL r wrong and doesnt wanna get banned juss in case, tee hee..

Actually switched to MSI. The nForce3 chipset is faster then the ASUS chipset.

also don't buy your case from newegg, I will try and find the site I bought mine form.
Please post the link. However I think I am getting the best deal with newegg, and plus their shipping kicks ass.

All of those are not in my taste. I was looking at the thermaltakes but I think they are to flashy. Plus they don't come with a good PSU (which the case I am getting does)

Huh? It has quite a few fans and most of them are in good places. However some are set as intake where they should be outtake but that isn't to much of a problem for me to fix.

IMO that case is ugly as hell. I already looked at tigerdirect and I decided on the superalien because of many reasons.

If you are suggesting I pirate XP you have another thing coming.

That is currently in debate. I am looking at a few and hopefully will have a choice by tonight.

I have Logitech Z640's. They are 5.1 speakers.

The super alien does infact have a removable tray.

haha, just where the fans are not everything to do with it.

Well, if you want to waste your money, be my guest, but that case has 2x better airflow than any of the above cases, or around that, the PSU is better than any PSU youll get under $80, btw.

I hope you realize that software is pirated.
Prove it. Just cuz it has OEM on it does not mean it is pirated.

Fans have a lot to do with it. Good placement of the fans means better cooling.

Still think it is a bad case?

For the sake of keeping this thread ontopic I will finish this over AIM with you.

OEM isn't pirated. It just means that it doesn't come with support of a box.

It's easier to explain when talking about hardware. When you buy a processor OEM, that means that you are buying JUST the processor...it will come on a little pink piece of styrofoam(goddamned SP), and a little plastic case. When the retail comes with a box, and a stock HSF.

With software, when you buy the OEM, you are just getting a copy of the software without a CD-Key most of the time. This is for those people who have a legit copy but their disc is busted. That's what OEM is for. It's a copy of the CD in just a normal CD case without any kind of box or serial key. They also normally don't garauntee that the software will work either ;) OEM is the stuff where the original box was damaged when it comes to software, or a small accessory was damaged in hardware...like the DVI to VGA converter on video cards. Something small like that.

We know (or at least I do) know what OEM hardware is. I have boughten OEM hard ware because it is legit and cheaper. However OEM is a totally different story. I will let my source explain. I would appreciate any further commentary on the issue be done with me via PM or AIM.

I don't feel like PMing this to everyone interested in the subject, so I will let it stay right here.

bfshaftedtwice: it might turn into illegal stuff over the forums
JDInFlames: well, there is nothing legal about oem software
bfshaftedtwice: us 3 will be in big trouble by corty
JDInFlames: unless people make it illegal
bfshaftedtwice: yeah

I already knew that people sold OEM software illegaly, but that isn't enough to take away from ALL credibility of OEM discussion. There are still completely LEGITIMATE companies that sell OEM software, such as tigerdirect, newegg, and Microsoft themselves. The site you put up pretty much validated what I told ShaftedTwice. It is only illegal if either the distributer gives a pirated copy, or a burnt copy, or if the user buys even a legit copy and uses a non-legit activation/registration method.

I would say for the forums sake, this kind of thing is borderline. I'm not discussing any warez sites or posting any keys to work for your new OEM software. So there is no harm in talking about the people who still sell it legally.

Yes, it is a big part of it, a very big part of it, but the way the case itself is set up is also a part of it. It can determine where to put a blowhole on top, on the side, etc.

Still think it is a bad case?

No, I think it is a very good case, very good. The one i am talking about is just as good though. Yours maybe have a few inches on it, but the airflow is just the same.

Alrighty then.

Ill edit this post with a little bit longer speech, i just wanted to let this out first.

What are you talking about? He gave a link to a OEM site that isn't legit. However if he wanted to to talk about OEM software without giving out a link that would be fine. It is like a warez discussion rule; You can discuss it but you can't give it.

Btw would a mod please split these posts? I don't want them derailing my topic.

And this post as well.

Who said my link was not legit? Who says that its illegal?

JD, i know it can be suspicious, but arent they all? It doesnt automatically mean that it is not legit.
