@Vadriel he didn't cover the song "you spin me right round". The band that did that is "Dope".
omfg gtfo rly?

Looked it up, you're right...but god it sounds just like him...oh well who can trust Limewire's information? I was searching for the original to download, and a bunch of results popped up with "Marilyn Manson - You Spin Me Right Round (American Psycho Soundtrack)" so I was lyke LEET, dled it and was like OMFG AWESOME.

What's the rest of Dope's stuff like? I love that cover.

Dope is an okay band. I use to own their first album, "felons and revolutionaries" which is pretty good. I never cared for any of their others though.

I've always loved Manson, but the single I heard a month ago sounded very weak.

I've been waiting for this album for years, but I'm definitely not going to buy it until I hear the rest.

Oh gawd..heart shaped glasses? What's funny is many Manson fans hate it..and many non manson fans really like it. I absolutely love the first single. It's amazing and unique..and very catchy.

"Just a car crash away" is also an awesome song from the new album..in my opinion.

I don't know though..if you want angsty suicide pop this album wont be for you..which is why alot of older manson fans hate it. This is very different...very rock-ish..solos, etc. And..it's about relationships and love..haha. It's like...emo-manson lyrically..

For me though..it's a huge improvement. I really didn't like Golden Age.

This album is probably my favorite since Mechanical Animals.

I'll tell you right now, Manson is pretty awesome in general...but he can blow Beethoven's cawk.

Are you kidding me? When has Manson ever been "angsty suicide pop"?

That's hilarious, if anything this new Emo-Manson is "suicide pop".

When hasn't he been? Antichrist superstar was horribly suicidal, and he's said it himself a million times. Mechanical animals was a bit different..less angst, thank god (although it was heavily drug induced). Holy wood was back to being pretty angsty...but atleast it was artsy. Golden age was probably the most angstiest album i've heard in years.

This on the other hand, is about real emotions..rather than rawr god sucks i hate my life. Lyrically it's depressing..but it's something different. It's less angst more sorrow / confusion. I'm not necessarily saying one is better than the other.

..but if you look at the reviews for the new album...many people have noticed exactly what I said. One person actually hated the new album because it wasn't "suicidal enough" and didn't have enough swearing and angst. And I'm not kidding either. Like I said..if you favor his angstier, earlier music you'll probably hate this. This album really isn't angsty at all..it's just depressing..and even a bit romantic.

Honestly you've completely missed everything Manson was saying if you take them for pure angst. Either that or your own emotions and angst played into how you were interpreting the lyrics. And last I checked, album reviewers were still completely full of shit.

It doesn't matter, lets all dye our hair and cut our wrists, we're Manson fans. (Right)

Sadly that is the majority of manson fans...and no, I didn't miss anything.

I never said it was PURE angst..but Antichrist was pretty angsty. I mean, he even cut himself on stage..and had loads of fangirl/boys doing the same.

..Antichrist Superstar was more than angst though..obviously. It was a stepping stone to where he is now. It was heavily based on religion (or lack of), and thinking for yourself. It was his first album where he really got to release his resentment towards Christianity and organized religion. Mechanical Animals on the otherhand..was a concept album, where he took the role of an "Alien", viewing earth for the first time..and he saw how cold and dead everything was. It was an album where he portrayed the fact that for the first time, he actually "felt" something. Trust me, I know all about his albums..I've been a fan for as long as I can remember. However, musically, and lyrically, many of his albums would fit under the angst category for me, even if they are packed with metaphors and interesting messages.

All I'm saying is...this album has NOTHING to do with religion...rebellion, hate..etc. It's about love and relationships, which is completely different..and why many people hate this album.

Well the only Manson fans I know aren't, so I can't really reply to this.

Shock rocker, listen to some of his interviews, I've never seen one advocating suicide. The only ones that I know of that did, were from the questions "kids killing themselves because of your music..." which he usually replied they were doing it out of stupidity not from his music.

Which also seems to be the theme of most of the "emo" bands that are currently popular.

Lawlz. Indeed. However, he doesn't even consider himself a shock rocker. He's said numerous times he doesn't try to shock people..but if it does that's their problem. He's just been labeled as a shock rocker by the media.

and no, he doesn't advocate suicide at all. Infact, I'm sure he'd be against it for others. However..many of his songs are about suicide. Even in a recent interview, he was asked if he ever contemplated suicide, and his answer was something of likes of "all the time". Lol.

Don't get me wrong, I love his older albums (minus smells like children)...but the new album is extremely different. That isn't surprising though, because each album by manson has been a huge transformation. This however, is totally different content wise..

Anyway, yeah, I joke..that this album is "emo manson" because lyrically it is very emo..but I love it. To all their own I guess. However, didn't you say you only heard one song?! You have to hear it all to judge it.

It doesn't matter if it's a label, it's what he does or tries to do. Is he seriously suicidal, no probably not, more than likely not.

[/COLOR]Do you honestly think he was being serious or is an actual suicidal person?

I wasn't trying to flame his new album, I was more of trying to defend his past ones. Though from what I've heard, I don't care for the new one. It's better than most shit you hear on the radio today, but isn't my idea of a good Manson album.

Nah he was serious.

This tells a lot about his experience before this album..which is interesting: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1558841/20070504/marilyn_manson.jhtml

I actually do love his old albums though. Antichrist is raw and inspiring...and Mechanical Animals is a masterpiece in my opinion ;)
