I had no idea that Manson had already written his own biography. I was somewhat intrigued by your post, so I just ordered it off of Amazon.com after reading this:

This gives him an incredibly broad perspective, which he brings to bear on his ordinary life in order to convey the more potent and frightening moments that shaped him into the pale-skinned weirdo that the Christian Right loves to hate. Best of all, Manson is shockingly honest, and portrays himself as occasionally stupid, self-centered, over-sensitive, ignoble, and, mostly, highly fallible and human. I'm dissapointed that your parents have forbidden you to read something that sounds this good. I guess I should be somewhat thankful that I only live with my father, since he is probably more open minded than I am (To a certain degree).

I agree with what PumpkinHead said, though; you should have tried to persuade her into allowing you to buy the autobiography. I think books like this contribute to a person's understanding of life more than most things (Although I haven't read it yet, I have an idea about what it's like after reading the reviews).

manson is portrayed as a bad guy by the tv and media and most parents automaticly believe those things also some parents believe that you might idolize him and end up wanting to be like him. just an educated guess

Think about it from the parent's view, she sees pictures of this guy for the first time without knowing much about him, what would you do? He doesn't look like a nice person at all, that doesn't mean he isn't but how will she know? You have to explain why you want it/why he isn't a bad guy, you can use examples from the book

i like the interveiw in bowling for columbine with him, and if parents seen more things like that they might actully be more open minded

it doesnt seem possible for someone to be open minded untill a later age in life. it seems that if you know more its easier to be thsi way.
