Hey guys, I was walking through a chapters and I came across te biography section. I said "meh" and started looking around until I found his biography.

I sat there on the floor for almost 30 minutes reading the book while my parents and sister went shopping and then I decided the book interested me so I wanted to buy it. So I told my parents I was going to buy it, with my own money and they approved and said alright.

so I had to go find my dad because we lost him in the store so I handed the book to my mother and walked away to find my dad.

anyway my mom looked in the 7 or so pictures in the book and decided it was a bad book for me and she said I was not allowed to get it.

why would she say this? would you do this to your own children? I myself do not see him as someone that should be feared.... and should you base something on just pictures? I never even looked at the pictures yet I just read the first little bit...

Personally, if I were a parent, I would not do that to my own kid. I TRY to look at everything with an open mind, and not quickly jump to any conclusions...yet most parent's are not like that. For the most part, parent's have good intentions, and just want to protect you...but sometimes they go too far with it, and become way over protective. There's a difference between protecting your child, and just plain out sheltering your child. Parents at times just seem to go to far, and start to act as if their kids are just stupid, and don't have thoughts of their own. It all boils down to how they want to raise you, and how they want you to look at the world. Censorship in my opinion, is just a bad thing...and leads to blind ignorance, and fear. People can try to block out everything that they disaprove of...and ignore it, but like it or not, it will always be there.

Parents, ALLOT of times, in certain areas are just ignorant, and jump to conclusions with nothing to really base it on at all. They aren't open minded, or ready to listen to anything their child has to say, because they believe that they ALWAYS know what they're talking about, because of their age and wisdom. I'm guessing your parents wouldn't let you purchase the book, simply because they think that looks mean everything. As far as they see it, judging by the pictures they probably saw...and how he looks, he's some sort of devil worshipping sicko, trying to pollute peoples minds . They think he's a bad influence, and his writings are things you simply shouldn't be reading about.

Sadly...that isn't the true case at all.

His biography is actually VERY interesting...and definitely a great book to read. I loved it.

Most likely, if you tried to debate about it, and tell them what he was all about, they would dismiss everything that you said, because they think that they're automatically correct, and know best. Not ALL parent's are like this...but many generic "normal" parents, are. They are just looking out for you, but sometimes it isn't always for your best interest.

I know this kid, who is like...17...and he can't even LOOK at things like that. He lives with an extremely christian aunt, and she ABSOLUTELY shelters him. It's disgusting. I don't know him personally, but he was in a class of mine. It's really sad... He actually told us that he was never allowed to play with squirt guns, because his aunt told him that they promoted murder, and were nothing but evil. One time, he printed off a band promo picture, of cradle of filth (he liked their music, because someone in the class played them allot), and he said that she nearly had a heartattack *lol*, and threatened to kick him out of the house for good, if he didn't immediatly throw it away. She was serious too .

I definitely think parent's should be open minded, and atleast try to understand where their kids are coming from.

I've never known my dad, but my mom has always been really cool about things like that. I've always been allowed to be my own person, and express myself in whatever way (music...books...whatever)...as long as I wasn't murdering someone or something :shoot

I would tell her to go **** a tree...that is if my mom told me that. Then again I'm 19 years old and can buy porn if I wanted I read a little bit, such as the what makes you not gay lists and stuff like that, it was quite interesting, heh.

luckly i can get stuff like that without my parents ever knowing.

i also want to know, did you try to explain who MM is? and try to convince her? if not, i think you need more communication with her and try to understand each other,

I've tried countless times to convince people including my mom that Manson not all that bad of a guy..he has his moments, but so do every other musician out there. Convincing people doesn't work though.

also,i had a friend who was sheltered so much,he couldint watch ratet R movies(no that bad i guess),buut this is where it gets bad h e couldint even watch pg movies because it said "parental guidence" , also he couldint play teen rated games even tho he was 15... , b4 i moved his dad let him play some nature games...
