Matrix movies were mainly boring. The original was good, but they creatores STOLE the whole CONCEPT of the Matrix from a video game.
Look up the SNES/Genesis game ShadowRun. It has the whole Matrix concept, where you plug in to beat the machines into a dimension called the Matrix.
Reloaded BLEW it was the worst movie I've seen in years, especially for all the hype it got. Seeing Reeve's rear was much more homosexual the Mr. Frodo and Sam could be considered for you need to realize as DW said that LoTR is based in a much earlier time period.
Revolutions blew, they tried to do to much with it, and there were too many special effects. That battle scene at the end sucked more than a sword fight in the movie: "A Kid in King Arthur's Court".
LoTR was amazing and just was generally a better trilogy, probably the best ever made. If you look at the directing, story line, plot, acting, characters, and effects LoTR was better in every category. Go loo up the sales readings, LoTR is in the top 10 in each one. The Matrix Reloaded is barely cracking the top 25 and is the only one in the top 30. Matrix was a serious let down after the creators couldn't go past what the video game did.

Or
The year is 2050.
And the Megaplexes are monsters casting long shadows.
When you become a Shadowrunner, that's where you live...
in the cracks between the giant corporate structures.
The Megacorps are powerful in a time when power means information...
... computer information flowing in the global network called the MATRIX.
Become strong... that's how you survive, in Shadowrun!

So yea, at least LoTR is known to come from a book and not stolen from a video game. They bought the rights to it as it doesn't appear on the SNES website nor Genesis.
Matrix SUX.
