I visited RIAA as well as the anti RIAA site and have just become more concerned on this matter. It seems these people are actually intending on taking action against ordinary people. What is the point behind all this crap. They are going to sue familys for stuff their children did. These people truely are greedy bastards. This is a mistake. Chances are if someone downloads some music from an artist and likes it, then that person will probably buy the album. The "we lost so and so billion dollars" is a bunch of shit. Also, it's not even like the people who will be charged are making money off the piracy. So why are they being sued? If anyone should be held accountable it should be kazaa. Even though they say it is an unmoderated medium they are still at fault. Why do people download kazaa? They do so because it links them to other people with programs to download. And if anyone is benefiting from all this then it's kazaa with all their spyware and ads. Thats how they stay in business. Instead of going after the small fishes they should go after the big one. I hope for the sake of the music industry this is all a bluff.

If the RIAA starts financially crippling families because of something their 13, 14, or 15 year old did, there will be a big uproar then.

Kazaa has been sued before, but was unsecessful (I think) because unlike napster, kazaa is a "file sharing program", where as napster was an mp3 swapping program. I think that's why audiogalaxy isn't around anymore. It's complete bullshit, and they will never follow through. It's just a scare tactic. They plan on scaring people into buying albums. I have gigs and gigs of mp3's (6 or 7 gigs), but only 40% or so are actualy downloaded. The rest are either ripped from cd's, or stupid shit like simpsons quotes. I should ger sued for paying for 60% of my music? **** that. Stupid greedy ****ers need to lighten up. The damn artist don't make jack shit off record sales, it's all about concerts ands hit for them. it's the stupid record companies that make money off record sales. On the local news here they interviewed some artist and they said they didn't care, as long as the people were listening.

Not much is gonna happen with this. If anything they'll sue 5-10 people to make an example out of them. I started boycotting cd's along time ago, and I have an even better reason now.

first of all, if you dont let people download 10s of Gbs off you, you have ABSOLUTELY nothing to worry about...

second, if you scan every file you download, and dont even try to download unlikely stuff like a bnet c-key generator andshit like that, you will NEVER get infected...

Use Imesh, thats what i use.
I never downloaded a virus/trojan from it.
I downloaded tons of viruses from kazaa.

Kazaa, Imesh, morpheus, and all other fastrack cleints run off the SAME NETWORK. That means if you use imesh, you'll still be on the same network that kazaa, bearshare, and all that shit is on. So you're still just as likely to get a virus from imesh. Just be safe about it, and don't download 1 user exe's.

Just because you use winmx doesn't mean you are safe from the bullshit RIAA (uif they actualy do something). They are attacking ALL popular file sharing clients. That includes kazaa, winmx, bearshare, morpheus (is that even around anymore?) Imesh, ect. All the fast track clients run off the same network, so they really only need to beon 1 to catch people on all clients sharing loads of mp3's.

Just don't share any files. That's the simplest way to avoid a lawsuit. There's 3 billion people on kazaa at any given time, so the odds of being sued are pretty ****ing slim.

If you ask me the FBI should be onto all the people with kiddie porn on file sharing programs. Get on one and type in sex or something and see the bullshit that pops up. Hmm, nevermind, I forgot music/software piracy a much bigger problem.

Yeah, Livin in Canada is great! and only DL files with 3+ Users! and even those have viruses! I rcommend dling files with only 5+ users, just to be safe! and dont dl files with less than 1,000 KBS!!!
