hmmm what happened to rpg maps eh?
well theres one going around i like a lot and newbs said it is too hard and rigged it sooooooooo i locked it and changed things back to the fun, hard tway they were :) OutPost RPG v1.8

and also, UMS really ARE getting bad...i mean...if a newb is gonna make a bound ud think he'd at least make hard obstacles if the spec effects looked bad lol.
and mass attack maps or madnesses are really gay, i think im going to make the ultimate madness...........u start the game it says fuk newby madnesses and crashes starcraft. ^^

but if you are so disgusted by the quality....NOBODY said u had to play them.....and also.....make good ones for them then!

Just wait... if things turn out as I hope they will, I'll have a great, long-lasting bugless RPG out within a couple months. Then the bar will raise on the greatness of UMS maps in Starcraft.

I personaly decided that the "public" on SC is too stupid to know what they want so why try to make maps for them? oh well

Whenever I play UMS, there is at least one person who calls me NEWB b/c I never played that map. So, I don't play UMS at all.
I used to but I quit.

i agree with bolt that good maps can only be appreciated by those who make them and understand how hard they are to make, the "public" is just not as smart as us... ;)

the public is a bunch of dimwits who think that 'dont look at the dot' should be more famous than 'sunken defense ultimate 1.320139201924029104129429102492' (neither should just incase you didn't get the point)

I think you will see alot more defence maps and bounds with crazy "brag" stuff on the sides like stupid cloaked marines and burrowing lurkers. Very few people will use starforge in a productive manor. but thats just the way i feel
ok, lets see...anyone seen lord of the rings: fellowship of the ring?
well, as you all may know when they are going across the ice place and are trapped, they go to a dark and dreay NON ICE place. so if map makers CAN switch tilesets in the middle of a map, they could make it look more like the real world.

Aye, most disgusting. Not only are the only played maps "D 5 billion" or "Bound 20 billion," but all the maps are easy now as well! Either that, or poorly made. Somehow, an insanely easy map "9999 marine" which is probably an idea from "Kill That Marine" is becoming popular despite the fact that the quality suggests it wouldve taken fifteen minutes to make and THERE IS STILL NO FUNCTIONING WIN TRIGGER!!! WHY do people just LOVE playing maps WITHOUT the basics of winning and losing? (Flaming disclaimer--good idea buddy. But fix the map and make it easier for the marine to win.)

Although I don't usually have original map ideas myself, I ALWAYS make a new map with new triggers, terrain, and units. I always increase the difficulty as well and add ideas on to the old ones that gave me the basis for creating my map. However, I have yet to see many of my maps played on Starcraft. The only one that is played (very rarely) is OMFG, the Firebats!! (My latest version is 3.08. Pretty dang hard if you ask me. Can't beat it because of all the newbs on the net who think five probes will sufficiently supply minerals to slaughter hordes of beefed-up firebats every two minutes.) I don't quite understand why the public has an appreciation for maps that you can beat every time by doing the same boring strategy and find them insanely fun. I also don't understand why all of my maps get the crude "wah wah this is too slow of building" on the maps that are MEANT for town building or the "why don't we have infinite minerals" comments that totally offset the usefulness of mining.

And yes, I agree with Mr. IRunTheMile there. I believe that Starforge will be excellent for the map creators like myself who just want to do some extra little tweaking that they cannot get out of the current editors. I also believe that the average newly-rigged-and-stolen-by-newb5000000 bound count will increase, however. I think that unfortunately, anything that could possibly benefit map editing will have adverse effects until Starcraft becomes a thing of the past, much like Warcraft 2. Try going on there--other than the boring old "Gruntball 50 billion with 90 Allerias," its not often you find a newb who can't live without tons of cash and fast build.

Anything that strikes down the current imposing limits to map-making will make the useless rockpile bigger. But it will also brighten the occasional "gem" of a game that becomes buried in that rockpile that really could use some of the new options found in Starforge.

Maps can’t switch tile sets in the middle for the game. Basically all starforge can do extra is create unseen units and doodads in new ways. Everything else should just be more convenient than the ways you have to do it now.
