Is drafting right?

Well in my opinion, the U.S. will never have another draft only because we have so many in the reservs. When we go to war they are the one that are called to serve and protect our freedom.


If you dont want to fight for what rights you have here in the U.S., then i say get the hell out!

Well if he will show up at the recruiting post looking like his avatar, or he will start touching other people at night then they sleep, the military might notice something. In russia its simple they show you a 2 hour film, picturing male gay people having sex, if you react to it with your penis enlarging then you gonna be sent home, if you stay cool or throw up (thats waht i am gonna do then my time comes) then you are sent to the training facility.

You are shipped back to your home. They dont care, if you reacted and you gay, then you are a danger for morale and are not to be intrasted a weapon or to be sent fighting amongst those who are a majority (straight people).

well really you would have to pass a physical test to see if you can even carry your equipment............ my mother being 4'11 and hardly able to pick up 35 lbs' i really dont think they would accept her. really all who are expected to fight are the younger generation........ men and woman alike who can carry out these tasks

I am against the draft unless absolutely nnessicary to defend ourselves. if we do not need to draft dont draft. a volunteer army is better than a drafted one because when your drafted you may or may not give a damn about the country, the military, whatever the hell your fighting for, and your military force is simply weaker than a military who only accepts the best most fit people who WANT to be there... if your drafted you have a reason to bitch, if you sign up you have no reason to bitch and, for the most part want to be there. if you have the luxury of having a volunteer military force then you escape a lot of morale problems.

i believe every american has their rights no matter what. if they dont want to fight for them dont force them to, there are plenty of people who will, and if not the country will fall and they will lose their rights anyways you cant say "if you dont want to fight for your rights you dont deserve them" thats bullshit... a lot of people dont believe in fighting, or dont want to join the military. theres nothing wrong with that.

Hay, what about the immigrants who just want to get citizenship by joining the army? They probably dont give a damn about your country as long as it is safe and they get their paycheck, so not everyne in your army signed up willingly, maybe it was the only way they could get citizenship/

Drafting is good. If we all-of-the-sudden no one wants to join the army. Where are we left? If drafting weren't around then we'd be screwed if we were in a war.


But. There is another side to this. Drafting is basicly telling you to go out and kill yourself. You don't even have a choice. Unless you can get hurt your going in a possibly not comming back.

The whole population of a country isn't just "all-of-a-sudden" not going to want to join the army, especially not here in the U.S, its a very irrealistic scenario. Some kids will always be unscrupulous enough to think that the only answer to their problems is the Army. So many kids in my school are too lazy to go to college, yet the want to join the army because of their "advantages." Very ironic.

Ye, but in wars like WW2 with raids and bombings people were scared, and as I imagine most people are scared of dieing, maybe some people would want to but voluntary service just can't pull the sort of numbers that drafting can.

No it isn't fair, but its practical in times of crisis, there just isn't that many blood thirsty people as you think. Some people may act tough but when it comes down to it they wouldn't want to sign up as much as you and I.

People are scared of dieing but people get even more angry when the lose their family or friends in a bombing raid. Hence they join the service to get their "revenge" on their enemy. I believe more people join voluntarily in times of need, then not. A patriotic sense kicks in when their country needs them, and when I say that I mean REAL times of need, like WW2. No reasoning during the Vietnam War led people to not want to join the military and protest the draft so oftenly and I agree with that.
You're right, most people are afraid of going to a war, but thats right off the bat. Its certain elements during that time that will change their mind.

I disagree with drafting when the war isn't even right(vietnam), but the goverment will see it as right and needed anyway so I guess they will draft Even if someone is the most patroitic person in the world, they will still shit themselves the first time going into a conflict.
