what about innocent lives who die b/c they were high or something? not fair to them now is it

What about the innocents who die from alcohol?
Airplane crashes?
Guns?
Car crashes?
Drowning?(Pools?)

You cannot make something illegal solely on the basis an 'innocent' died because of it. Life isnt fair.

My candidate left the running a while ago (dean lost in the primaries) so i'm willing to consider alternatives. Unfortunately you would lack the critical number of votes to be a viable non-Bush=Kerry candidate so my vote remains.

I think you'd fare better with finding a way to make gobs of cheap pollution free electricity which would result in among other things a sizeable reduction in production costs especially for automated industry resulting in more jobs due to an influx of industry into the united states. Than an increase in those costs.

Well originally, this was gonna be "lesson in economics #2: Comparitive advantage" but I had 2 problem sets dumped on me, so I just kinda lost interest. But basically I was gonna make an arguement for free trade.

with 0 unemployment companies have no one left to hire. unemployment is natural at a low rate... you have to have change and growth in an economy. and if EVERYONE was employed most likely people would do useless jobs. the only way i can see 0 unemployment is if you pay everyone to dig holes and fill them back up. but no one makes money.. the economy dont work like that.

i realize it was a joke, but im just pointing out that unemployment is needed.

Well they shouldn't have gotten high. Besides, as it is now, drug deals sell to millions of kids in poor residental areas in big cities like LA and Chicago. They even encorperate them into their gangs. With drugs legalized, the government can better regulate it. And with drugs legalized, a lot of gangs will loose their main source of income and move onto other crimes or find jobs.

The precedent in this case being prohibition. Of course in this current political climate decriminalization of the softer drugs is all we can hope for at the moment.

Different situation. Alcohol was legal and widely used, then went to being illegal. Pot has been illegal as long as it was widely used iirc (1920's or so).
