Community service...you want to make yourself look well-rounded. Uni app forms usually have a section 'just' about work experience (well...the unis I applied to did). If you have anything under work experience, and indicate that you need financial aid, they'll set up this 'aid package' thing for you, and include a job in there. In other words, they'll make you work for money.
Oh, and 1 more thing, there're generally two types of scholarships: need based scholarships, and merit based scholarships. Need based scholarships, well...they're not exactly difficult to get from unis cause when you apply for one, unis usually ask for a bank statement, so all you do is create a bank account with 'just' enough money to meet their requirements, then you're all set. Merit based scholarships: Usually much nicer than need based scholarships. Your IGs won't get you anywhere (not saying that you shouldn't aim high). I only sent my IG grades to 1 university out of the 5 I've applied to. Why? Well...4/5 unis didn't want my IG grades (but then again, I didn't apply to any unis in europe, and the IG program isn't really recognized by american unis). For a merit based scholarship you'll want to get urself a nice high accumulated gpa, and a nice class rank. Oh, and when you're applying, check if you qualify for a scholarship first (I can't get a scholarship from purdue cause I'm an international student).
You should be fine...
