Mexican is the language of Mexico.
Mexican is a form of Spanish, if a Mexican were talking to a Spanish person from Spain, they probably wouldn't really understand eachother much.
Mexican is not a language, spanish is. If anything, mexican is an accent, based on the spanish language. Or even a dialect.

Just like American to English, or Brazilian to Portuguese.

That's exactly what it is. American English compared to British English. Same language, but a lot of difference in intonation and word usage. There are a lot of words that differ in meaning, or simply words that really aren't used as much in one language or the other. Mexicans speak Spanish, they just speak a Mexican form of Spanish. Just like Americans speak English, only an American form of English.

True Spanish comes from Spain, like true English comes from England. It's actually very similar in rootage too, since America is just a spinoff colony of England as is Mexico a spinoff colony of Spain. The languages started the same, but as time passed regional dialects integrated, the languages changed a bit, and the grew to be a bit different.

If a Spaniard and a Mexican were to talk together, they'd probably understand each other, but they'd be thrown off a little by each others' accents and the few odd colloquialisms and phrases unique to each culture.

Well...dialect is more exclusive to smaller regions. Like, in the USA, Northerners speak a different dialect than Southerners. You can almost tell what state someone's from based on their dialect. There are even dialects exclusive to particular towns or geographical locations, like mountain ranges.

The differences between country variants are a little too broad to be called a dialect, although it's essentially the same principle.

Not really, there are bigger dialects and smaller dialects. American english is a larger dialect, redneck american english is a smaller dialect.

How come when you talk about regional dialects, the first thing that comes to you is "redneck English?" Why not another form of English, or Spanish, or something? I smell bias. I'm offended by you. Dirty Mexican.

Had some fun with US customs today when I tried to come back into the country and they found a pack of rolling papers in my bag. Hahaha good times.

Chihuahua City? Wtf?
Yep. Capital city of the state of Chihuahua.
How long has Mexico had electricity?
I was in la cibercafe! 15 pesos por dos horas!!
Why don't you buy a phrase book?
cheap booze and smokes. read the OP.
Are you travelling around Mexico with the baby skunks with you??
My aunt was taking care of them. The border people have all sorts of zany rules about transporting live animals.

Because it's the only regional dialect I know of.

Y'all sound the same to me except for the southern Yippee-ki-yay ones :(

Tronga, stop taking English things literally. I realize that grammatically it should be "couldn't care less" but colloquially it's "could care less."
