Its not the RAM, if it was I wouldn't have beena ble to play it. I still have 256, and my 512 stick crashed on the same address. For RAM address problems, there is a program that I have that might solve this, but it isn't freeware.

My Warcraft had this problem when I used 256 of RAM and I had friends with kingmax 256 and they had no problem. Since I bought my GEIL memory I haven't had a single error like this or any other (concerning Warcraft of course).

Generally in situations like these, he must reinstall the game or add more RAM. I noticed that he has Windows XP proffesional, this Windows requires 128 MB of RAM only for himself. The Warcraft recommended specifications are 512 MB of RAM.

I had this problem before. It was because my hard drive (and motherboard, graphics card, and everything connected to it) was partially fried and was rendering it useless.

If it crashes randomly doing other things, it's probably a motherboard or hard drive failure.

If it just shuts down randomly, it's overheating.

Otherwise, try this strange way of opening it. Open up Winamp (version 3 works well) and some other slightly memory-intensive program such as Mozilla Firefox, and open up Warcraft. If it opens, you probably have some RAM issues. If not, then try reinstalling. If not, is it too much to ask to format and reinstall everything?*

Get a water-cooling unit/system. I have one. it keeps my temp to about 60-70 degrees all the time.

512 to avoid the game lagging like hell during the big maps. Your old 256 must have had incompatability issues or was a defect when you tried to use it. My 512 is being factory recalled and I am gonna kill teh bastards at Logic who gave it to me.

I think your problem lies with the PSU or the memory which your computer uses up while idling, because it is true that you can run WC3 easily with a 256 stick, but that's because the when the system is idling it doesn't take up as much cash. So, depending on what you mean by when you say, "My game randomly shuts down". Randomly as in, you can create your own game, stare at your screen with your base with those few peons and then it will crash all of a sudden? Or do you mean randomly as in you will play a little, and when you choose to go into a graphically intense map or terrain, you crash? If you crash even if you just stare at your base, I think it will be your PSU, but if it's because you go into a graphically challenging map, it will probably be your availble cash on your computer. Solution, try getting rid of the unwanted idling processes in the background, ie. Ad-ware, winamp/realplay/wmw process, etc. Or reformat so you start clean, or buy more ram. In my opinion, I would buy more ram, because if you would like to play even more graphically complex games like Half-Life 2, you would need 512 DDR for sure.

But if you have AOL running in the background, your screwed.

A watercooling system might help to, but they can be very expensive.

AOL should never be running when using Full Screen Aps. If AOL crashes, it minimizes the game just to tell you that message, its retarded. Also, I believe I discussed the issue with this guy and he managed to get his problem solved.

If it was the PSU, he would need to post his AMP settings so I can tell him if his PSU sucks or not. Mine did before, now my PC doesn't crash anymore. What's the catch? I blew the money I could have used to go to prom.

But in case he doesn't. The real problems I feel hardware wise are Motherboard (rare), RAM (common), and PSU (common).

As I said, if it crashes - it loads a pop-up and minimizes your game to tell you that shit.
