Help, Can't Open Map!!

Its because I tried to overlapp text and somehow it screwed it up, thats what caused it (I'm positive as I saved map, worked, added overlapping in briefing, saved, wouldn't work).

Arg Stupid angelfire, Ill just make a new account, (Again), and just write in the url. Why do they care that I link it to them?

What program did you use to do the overlapping? I'm sorry to say it but I highly doubt I'm going to be able to fix this. The MPQ itself is corrupt, I can't even get the CHK out of it.

I'm going to venture a guess that whatever program you saved it with somehow overwrote some memory that it wasn't supposed to and corrupted the MPQ.

Interestingly enough, all the sounds could be extracted just fine...(the CHK itself is over a meg, by the way)

Anyhow, I'm quitting SC, gets old after awhile, might restart playing in a few months but I doubt so, getting a new comp so I can play MMORPGs again (Mine is screwed up / old).

I think i figured it out.... This took me one whole night to come up with, but if it is a scenario.chk area, i'll check it out!!!! I might find where the code got scewed up and TRY to recover it... I'll also rip the sounds out and post them so you can remake the map if my attempt fails...

Have u tryed SCM draft it works pretty well for opening things
and always keep another saved game that u made in another folder or somting i have lost stuff to becuase i forgot to make a back up

I would restart the map if only I had the terrain Was very hard to make Middle-Earth terrain that actually looked like Tolkien's drawn middle-earth unlike all the other lotr maps.

I don't use SCM, but, I'll give it a try, all I ever use is SXC and SF And Guedit.. sometimes..



But I have noticed you can open it in Text, if thats any help.. it just shows code but its not random letters,

I know this might be an old thread, but i just got home from a trip and now is my first chamce in a while to dl the map...uhhh...dl??? THE LINK ISN'T WORKING!!! Can you email it me at Lord_Hishado@yahoo.com ? Don't worry, i have cable! and a .CHK file or .MPQ (in other words MPQ is an odd type of "zip" if you want to call it that... scm and scx are .MPQs)file opened in a text editor is just a bunch of ASCII (pronounced ass key.... "this server isn't working." "is it fully ASCII enabled?" "their is an ASS KEY?") like ╒Xµ¼(Ãœ■Kí─╕₧╔îÆ╝è◘ìmÆ╩... You need a HEX editor for CHK and WinMPQ for MPQs... uhhh.... ask if you need help with what i just said... Ãœber!!!

i have found a solution and im sure it will work.
Go to Start , All Programs , Accessories , System Tool , Click on System Restore , then click on a certain date to restore to when u made dat error. And go look for ur map Or get the program Go Back
