people in general steriotype others. the terrorist groups stereotype us as fat, ugly, american pigs, while steriotype muslims as evil bloodthirsty insane animals who kill to get into heavan so they can get thier virgins. its not really our fault, because that is what we see on tv. and they see us on tv being rich and powerful and not working. then, they are pretty mad, but not enough to go killl someone until somebody, who would never blow themself up, tells them about the parts of the quuaran that just scream "KILL!!" and believe it wholeheartedly like christians believe in jesus, and go and die to prove thier faith.

I think the fact is, all of our attitudes towards people that are muslim changed. No matter what. Its a horrible thing but I think its true.
My opinion of Muslims really hasn't changed. I guess if you don't belong to any religion it would be harder to understand, but it's true that the beliefs of the few do not represent the beliefs of the many. There are fundamentalist Muslims in the same way that there are fundamentalist Christians. These are the people who are the most supportive of war for the furthering of their religion -- they're the ones who most people would call terrorists. However, this isn't how every member of a religion thinks. Most Christians are against waging holy war, in the same way that I imagine most Muslims would be.

When we think of Muslims we think of what they show us on TV, and we base our opinions off of that, which really isn't a good idea. Personally, I don't want the Muslim people thinking I am the type of Christian that is shown on TV. I don't want them to judge me based on the beliefs and actions of other people, and in return I will not do that to them. So no, my opinion of them hasn't changed in the least.

Then again, I really wasn't closely affected by 9/11, and that plays a large part in all of this....

I think I've actually changed my attitude towards them in a positive way. I've never really thought anything about Muslims, but now that 9/11 and everything is going on, I've learned a lot about the religion. Given I'm not an expert by far, but I've come to understand the concept of it. I just hate it when ppl say they hate all Muslims and garbage like that, so I guess that's what I've become more understanding.

I dont like the fact that they basically hate every religion but thier own. Like cxoli said eariler that just the ones you see on TV, but I havnt really heard of or seen any others that dont hate other religions. Like in school we are learning about the middle east and we say this movie about muslims and it had this guy that was talking about how he doesnt like westerners. And, yeah, thats just one guy, i guess.

Tell me if im wrong it was a while since i reviewed my post ww1 history, but...Wasnt the middle east controlled by france or britain after world war 1 untill late ww2? yet we dont hear much about terrorism in britain or france in their home countries by terrorist groups that happen to be from afghanistan or iraq or any of the other countries in that region. And Britain/France owned the middle east as an imperialist nation. So why not lash out at them for years of impearlism? just wondering....

1. Iraq is fighting a Guerrilla war with us much like Nam did to us, and we did to Britian.

2. The problems with the middle east Stems from the fact that America sides with Isreal

I wasnt basing it on one person, I have heard of more than one muslim that hates other religions. But I dont have a problem with muslims that dont belive that.
But anyway I dont like when anyone hates a different group

1. But durring nam and us revolution, the vietcong were supported by the USSR and i think China, and the US was supported by the powerful navy and training of the french. where here, the iraqi's are fighting by themselves against more than just he USA, and their only way to attempt to win is to scare us out through kidnapping and murder.
2. Yes that is true, but Israel has a right to be there do they not?

The only people of any religion I have ever met who have insisted that their religion is the only "right" religion are fundamentalists. People like that piss me off. Personally, I don't really care what anyone else believes, or whether or not they practice the same religion as I do. I actually like it better if my views are different from other peoples', because it gives me something interesting to talk about ^_^

Anyway, the whole reason I think some people hate Muslims are because people in general have a very narrow view of the world. (I know I'm kind of generalizing, but or the most part I've found this to be true.) We base everything off of our own opinions without really considering the fact that maybe we're not getting the "big picture," which is basically how stereotypes are formed. So while Muslims may be, for the most part, good people, that's not what we see and therefore not what we base our opinions off of....It's sad, really, but it's kind of hard to avoid.

People need to understand that all muslims aren't these fundamentalists that plague the news. The Muslims responsible for terrorists attacks and what not are a small miniscule percentage of the overall muslim population. I am taking a course on world religions, and we learnt some statistics for Islam. Approximately 13% of 1 billion muslims are in the sect of the Islamic faith that the fundamentalists follow. Out of this 130 million people, perhaps a few hundreded thousand are actually responsable for the whole fundamentalist movement.

So If the course had the correct numbers, not all muslims are crazy terrorirsts, in fact less then 1 in 1000 is. So don't be hating them all for the actions of a few.
