Well Australia doesn't have winter now does it? therefore there is no fall harvest, and there is no large meal before winter.

Canada's harvest is in October because we get colder weather faster. Therefore thanksgiving is the feats before winter, at the time of the harvest. So naturally we have it a month before the U.S. does.
