I had seen glass blowing on Tv and it looked like such an awesome and difficult art. I was always interested in it.
Up until awhile ago i had never done it or even seen it in person.

Turns out this guy in town was offering small group lessons.
So i signed up. It was me and this other girl in a class. We had 4 classes, each lasting about 2-3 hours a week. On my last day i got to make anything i wanted.
So i decided to make a Orange/Red bowl with frayed edges. I think it turned out pretty nice. Its a little uneven. But im satisfied.

What do you guys think of glass blowing?

It is ridiculously fun. But challenging at the same time.
Any mistake and you have to restart the whole piece.

Im doing the glass blowing classes this fall at the "art center" here.
I met the chicks who do it this weekend at the art fair.
im so farking excited! I have always wanted to learn how to do it and they are REALLY good at it.
the onlt kind of glass blowing I have ever done involves the inards of a can of hairspray and a blow torch.
nice bowl btw.

Did you go for the frayed edge style or did you just mess up and roll with it? Looks pretty cool either way, is there a different technique to add the swirls in the glass instead of a one transparent color?

Good luck Torrid! Hope you enjoy it.

Yeh Johnny. I put down little amounts of glass powder. But it all wasnt crushed the same. Some pieces where big and some where really fine. If i wanted to make it a solid color i would have rolled in in big chunks. Then melted it in, and done it again. Until i got a nice solid color.
And yes, i did the edges on purpose :D The other girl did the same thing as me but she didnt flay the edges she made them come out straight.

Check out some the stuff my instructor made. He is ridiculous.

And you can tell how fun it is by a still picture of a bowl?
No, i can tell how fun it looks by seeing glass blowing several times on tv and about four times in person.
