Agreed WQ, but I'm still not all that confident in the motherboards made for P4's just yet =\ Unless they have made some serious improvements over the last 6 months of course.
The best P4 mobos are made by Intel themselves, yet they made it difficult to overclock.

No sir, They do not have any overclocking options in the BIOS. And they, sir, are a lot more difficult than say a Abit IC7-Max3..

You might only need 4-6 fans, but its always better to have room for more, depending on the size. I also would suggest cutting a blowhole on the top of the case for exhaust, it helps a lot.

As for the processor, I agree with JD on this one. Either that, or go P4. There is no need for 64-bit, for there is no applications yet for it. Nor the 2.2GHz with AMDs.

As for the video card, go with Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro, they are supposedly made easier to softmod into a 9800XT.

If you are going to overclock, id get this case:

and drill a 120mm in the top for a nice fan up there, as exhaust. Make sure the front fan is an intake, and make the 2 back ones exhaust, side an intake, and mabe another side intake.

As for a heatsink in overclocking, id go with Thermalright SP-97 with a good fan on it.

i have 3 fans and no problems running a 3 ghz cpu overcloked and a passive cooled 9800 pro that spreads a lot of warmth around itself.

Yeah, but that also depends on the CPU heatsink for the CPU temps. As for the case temps, its not going to be the coolest machine.

BTW, im planning on getting a 3.0GHz and oc'ing it too along with a 9800Pro that is going to be softmodded into a 9800XT =)
