What's sad is the king is almost never in the position to capture any peice, because to get in that position, the king would have to put itself in checkmate. Getting behind a pawn isn't too hard, but there isn't often going to be a situation where you can pull that off without some other peice there to stop you, same goes for getting close enough to a knight. Every other peice has something over the King (besides its obvious importance in winning the game) even the pawn, due to its extrem expendability and ability to be used as bait.

I love knights the most in beginning of the game.. they remind me of warden harass in war3.


In mid game, I love queen, I use them as sabotage missions

then my most FAVOURITE has got to be rooks with knights, in almost the end of the game.

I think the Knights are good. They are virsatile(SP?) to the game. they get the angle attack down.

I begin the game with my queen and my horses/bishops, and towards the end i start moving my pawns, its much more complicated then that, but thats my basic strategy. Actually it depends on a player, if i played someone before i will use his weaknesses to my advantage but if i play you for the first time thats what i do.[/glow]

I find bishops to be the most useful pieces mid/end game, once you open up some diagonals. Never see 'em coming. The knight is as stealthy, but it can't move as far, so it's bishop all the way.
