Yes, as Akule mentioned, I have played D&D. During the summer my monday-tuesdays were devoted to it. Mostly now, when my groups starts up again, it'll likely be friday-saturday.

My DM is a real whore, tries his hardest to kill us, pitting us against monsters that are like three times as hard to kill as the one's we should be facing

Ahem, no one answered my question. Where is a good place to buy it?
To buy what...? Dice? Pencil? Paper?

How many of you play? I'm not talking anything on the computer and/or a console. I'm talking the real DnD. The make a character on paper and RP DnD.

I was just taught how to play on Saturday, and went with my friend to another friends house to play. Wow, this game is fun. I thought it was gay and shit because you didn't have any graphics etc., but it is actually quite a cool thing to do.

Especially because it was about 6 of us playing and we were all making each other laugh extremely hard over stuff..it takes a long time to play too especially if you are cracking each other up in the process..:p

Anyways who all here plays or has played DnD?

I play every sunday, (minus holidays) for the past 14 years it's a good time.

a group of bf members used to play (me, sean, tacitus, bam, ryan, maybe some other oldies.)

we even had our own forum for it in the public section, but we just stopped doing it i guess. I'd love to get the gang together and start it up again ;)

Edit: i also have a program called the DnD Character Generator, where its all automated and you can create characters a lot faster/easier. the only real thing i like about this way is how it auto rolls your stats.
I'd join if its second addition rules

drax: It's not a board game. You need the dice for it, the books, character sheets (don't NEED these), and that's it. Besides..if you play with people..chances are you need nothing because there is always gonna be 1-2 people that have the dice with them and the books.

phreakerhaxxor: You're a coder and you're worried about DnD being too nerdy for you? Rofl..

I will definitely play if you teach me how to first.

Sorry, I couldn't think of a better way to describe it. But you use dice, and some sort of "game board" don't you?

I like the idea of starting up a forum for DnD roleplaying. :D

I personally have never played the character sheet DnD with anybody. Simply because I cannot find anybody who plays it.

No. All you need for the game are the rule books, dice, pencil, paper, and a couple friends.

Dice - Go to a hobby store. Any good store will have a set of dice for about 5 dollars. If you're too cheap you could like...draw a number out of a hat any time you need to make a roll, but people will probably get pissed after awhile.
Pencil/Paper - ...stationary store. Relatively easy materials to come by.
Rule books - As a player you need the Player's Handbook which is about 20 dollars. If you're DMing you need the Player's Handbook, Dungeun Master's Guide, and Monster Manual (MM is optional really; you can make up stats for monsters and campaigns don't even need to include monsters). You can buy these at a good hobby store. Or you can probably find a pdf of them online for free.
Friends - Can't help you with this one. Sorry.

I dont play DnD. Parents are weird like that. So, I do two things.

1. I made my own RPG, and it pwns. Downside is i can only play with my dumbass brothers. However, one of them has gotten decent at it after 6 years.

2. I play a Star Wars RP that my friends brother made up. It is fun as well. I know, I know, I'm a geek. But its fun as hell!

Me and some friends play it every now and then. I have the DM and players manuals and stuff on hand, and we usually just take stuff from those and make a variation on everything. We made an FFXI variation on DnD once that was pretty funny.

Ahem, sorry. I just figured you should have some sort of playing surface, instead of just using the dirt. My bad.
